Other than the coach being the problem, I also noticed some very disturbing tendencies in our overall systems of play.

1. The team plays a lot of stagnant back passes and square passes.
2. The build up pace is far to slow. Our players do not pass with the first touch.

Possession does not win matches. Ethiopia had far less possession but had far better scoring chances. In the first half we had zero shots on target from open play.
We actually got a little bit better when we had Punch Masanamela making incisive runs out wide on the left in the second half.

Let's be honest here, the only reason Gavin or Gordon haven't got the job is that they are white. Sad but true. Maybe SAFA will finally give Gordon a chance now that he has spent another season proving what a good coach he is.

About half of Bafana's coaches have been foreign, and they were either European or South American. I'd like to see Gordon given a chance, but it's not like he would magically make the team play better or find new players.

You can get whoever and they will fail as well. South African football is dying.
When you have a 35 year old topping the scoring charts and winning all awards in the league you know you have a serious problem.
Where are the young players that could help to turn this around in the near future? The football future looks bleak indeed.

As I've said before, we need a good domestic system. Without top schools playing football, development will lag. SA isn't big on clubs training players.

If we aren't going to train home based players, we need a new stratergy "Find any South African" any decent player who can be given an SA passport needs to be roped in.

KickOff.com can confirm that Safa are currently meeting with Pitso Mosimane – a meeting which seems likely to result in the Bafana Bafana coach losing his job.

A high-level Safa source says they are currently in talks with the former SuperSport United following yesterday’s embarrassing 1-1 draw at home to Ethiopia in their opening 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Mosimane’s comment in the post-match interview of ‘What can I do’ has not helped his cause, and reports suggest that he could be booted ahead of this weekend’s qualifier against Botswana in Gaborone.

Steve Komphela, who recently joined the national team set-up as assistant coach, seems likely to take over the reins for that match should Mosimane be fired.

How many seasons does Gordon have left on his Swallows contract? Now could be an ideal time to make a play for him.

Not true. Pitso is one of the few black coaches Bafana has had. We must look at the standard of the league before we can even look to appoint a local coach. The PSL is sub-par. And it's not producing good players.

100% True. Look at how our teams flop at African club tournaments. The worrying part is the PSL is also the richest league in the continent with the most lucrative TV deal. The quality of our players is poor and I don't rate our coaches either to be honest.

That has a lot to do with our shoddy defending as well. On the rare occassions they did make forward runs our defense was all at sea.

I like the idea that we like to keep the ball, but our problem is we have zero-quality when it comes time to make those incisive forward passes/runs. It's too much to expect Pienaar to do everything. But even he looks lost when he pulls on the national jersey.

SAFA want Gordon:

Word from Safa House is that Safa's national executive committee is drafting an offer for Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund.

Safa are expected to fire current Bafana Bafana Pitso Mosimane before the end of today after a string of poor results.

According to our source, "Safa wanted to sack Mosimane straight after the 1-1 draw against Ethiopia, but could not do it before the meeting."

However, the Association is already making plans to meet with Igesund as soon he returns from China.

Contrary to reports, Mosimane is not in the management meeting currently taking place at Safa House; he is still in Rustenburg with Bafana. It is expected that he will be summoned to a meeting soon.

Is he fired? There are reports that SAFA are struggling to wriggle out of the contract which is reportedly worth R20m:wtf:. If so, then Pitso is a very rich man where ever he is, because I don't think he'd settle for less than a quarter of that (after tax)!
