The biggest permanent LAN - PTAWUG

remybfg10k - Hi I am glad to say that the wug is not owned or run by telskum, There is no quota, there is no cost, you can shift as much data as your like. Anyone who would like to join is more than welcome. I have learned a lot and enjoy the wug, gaming is gr8, people are frendly and are keen to help where they can. I am shure you would be glad you joined in.

Hope to see you on the wug soon!.

Rocket is gonna build us a nice battery solution that will be able to keep our Rietvallei site up for 36 hours+ - lots of power failures in the area, dankie Eskom!

Rocket, fully agree, i'll try track down my mirc logs and will PM to you what was said regarding quota, maybe you could then just correct me!

will you be going to the (pta)wug meet in Feb?

When the Jawug Lafarge site goes up, it will, go help Xarion install it

We have improved our links between the far corners of the WUG, with more links allready in planning!!

The growth just hasn't stopped, as PTAWUG is now on 272 users!!

(We even have our own Action Cricket team)

So the WUG is a bunch of peeps on one huge lan in every area

Sounds impossible?

We'll it is not... We even have our own radio station with 3 really cool DJ's, sending out a stream on the network

281 users connected now, accross Pretoria, only places that doesn't have coverage is parts of Waterkloof and Pretoria West.

if you live in Pretoria and you are not connected to PTAWUG - WAKE UP!!

We get a special price at miro for the PTAWUG standard kit : www.miro.co.za/wireless_kit.aspx - R2330 incl

feel free to ask any questions you might have

sucks ass, I cant remember my login to their site, was interested in joining last year somewhere but never did...anyone know were I can get hold of the KML without registering again, or were i can get hold of a moderator @ pta.wug.co.za?

Hey Mole, what registration name did you use? by the way the KML is available at http://www.wug.za.net. If it doesn't find your username, just re-register :) if you have registered and don't remember your password just request it from the site..

Playing CSS most nights, everyone joining in from Pretoria North to Centurion to Benoni and Kempton, 40ms pings, is just awesome :)

@protzkrog:
is there a specific kit that i should get from scoop? (tried irc via chatzilla on FF3.0.8 - cant connect) i'm <2km from irene highsite; <2km from lyttelton highsite; 2.8km from zwartkop highsite, all with good LOS. will take photos from the roof over the weekend. should i get the WUG-K3 kit from scoop? dont know ANYTHING wrt wireless networks at all. most of the stuff on the guides make sense though.
seesh. i guess i got a whole bag of silly questions still burning to be asked.

WUG KIT 5 from scoop is the standard PTAWUG kit - it can be expanded, it can do +-25km links, it will always work, if you move, or want to connect to another highsite. The tried and tested equipment.

The wug is getting to big now...

You have to login early on the CSS server or else you wont get a spot!!

:)

Ok Guys I am finally ready to join the WUG, who can I speak to in the south of JHB near the Glen shopping centre to assist me?
