The consumer mobile data segment is saturated says Cell C

Well I think the time of good promotions for the consumer from cellc is over, will have to take our money somewhere else.:(

Maybe I am wrong, but that remark seems very short sighted. I can't believe that the market is saturated.

Well that's fine... for a few bucks more Ill go back to Vodacom and have 3g more often. I'm also taking my family with me... so long Cell C

Good luck charging customers also the same as your competitors with even less coverage...

Their network is saturated. I can barely get 1kb/s with them. Yesterday and today. Didn't use them earlier in the month. Looks like the remaining 500mb on my CellC sim is going to be stolen from me.

Noooooooooooooo! Bring back Lars. First this, and soon you will read that Cell C is competing in the business/corporate market against Vodacom Business and MTN Business. Your average consumer will once again be left on the side.

I expected this much as soon as it was announced that AKC would take over the reigns, and after BMI contacted me to do a telephonic survey for Cell C, commissioned by AKC, to gauge interest in business products. Guess what my answers were??

Hopefully they will be able to get some traction in the business market and get financial stability

3 words .. A.K.C.

Yeah.. I see they have almost totally dropped the consumer. I sold a crap load of those cellc specials to my clients (got several hundred of them out), when they run out and my clients come back for more... ganna move them to 8ta.

So much negativity - basically they are saying the competition has caught up to them (and they don't have the deep pockets 8ta does to buy customers) and they are going to focus on delivering to SMMEs as well now. So what I get from that is they are not just going to have a few cheap data bundles and dongles, but a wider product set with more features. I don't really see how that is a negative thing?? I hope they also do focus on quality as there have been a few complaints of the network being a bit congested (specific towers I expect). Who would be upset if they resolve that issue?

I really don't see any data price movement from any of the players (not anything drastic) in the next while until the spectrum issue is dealt with, but what would be nice is an additional option set from Cell C.

CellC have recently increased their consumer pricing. Their pricing is expensive now. Not worth passing onto customers. As telecoms providers if we want to keep clients we need to give them competitive products. CellC does not have a competitive product to offer. I know from my side they will be losing over 250 data clients over the next 4 months. If they had kept their data prices at the same as last year I could have retained the clients. They are not, and I do not want to lose the client... so Hello 8ta!

...that is by far the most uneducated, defeatist statement I have ever heard from any mobile operator.

How can you say that in a country with a broadband penetration rate that is almost non existent.

sies

It is sad but I saw it coming. Their data network just could not handle the traffic while I was using them. From what I see the service is still crappy. Stuck with Vodacom, I am.

Demand for their current is low only because the prices are lame, drop the price again, and demand will spike again. Right now theyre just giving 8ta the market for affordable internet.

*Sigh* 8ta here i come.I don't care what anyone will say price is the only determining factor for the financially overburdened and over taxed South African consumer.

yeah I think this guy's statement should be rewritten to say "We cannot handle any more subscribers"

Yep, I choose providers by price first. If they prove to be unreliable (CellC) I don't go back. Just jump to the next cheapest offer.
