The Droid TV thread

Im getting rather annoyed
That I still haven’t gotten an Android
Everybody on My Broadband seems to have one
And they look like they having a lot of fun
Maybe one day when the time is right
il get me a Droid, and share my delight
so for now ill just moan and moan
while i watch Game of Thrones on my phone

:D

Guy its worth it - I can't complain and I haven't looked back yet.
This is the best option out there, trust me would sick Jvan lie to you?
You must seriously consider it in the near future.
Other guys are envious of my "member"

Hmmmm.. From reading the latest, you guys really seem to be swaying me from my decision to get a Roku 3.

The DroidTVs are fully functional android computers with most of the capabilities of a modern HTPC. The Roku 3 is a set-top box which is designed to only stream content from certain preconfigured web sites such as Netflix and Hulu Plus etc. The MXIII is currently a really great buy at R1200.

I'm loving my MXQ @ R950 from avsupply it's a no brainer. I was also going to get the roku. Now I can do everything the roku can do and more.

I haven't even gone through a quarter of the capabilities (time) but from what I do use like Netflix and local streaming. I'm loving it.

I will post a bit more once I start properly using it.

I have had my eye on the MXQ. I don't need a monster. Just enough to access Plex and Netflix, Youtube and file shares.

avsupply did give me some pointers on it about the WiFi distance etc. The lounge is getting a LAN point put in anyway, the CCTV guys are running one for the CCTV HDMI over LAN, so will give them the cable to run a second drop.

I'm happy with my MXiii ... its just ace ... I would happily recommend it, Roku has its limitations. Some, set top boxes are limited to steaming. Same will apply for the Google Nexus box apart from the fact that you play Android games on it. With the DroidTV box you can do the streaming part and much more. Android L TV OS? - should come in the near future but that would require a locked down boot rom and Google Mobile Certification. I'm running everything from my MXIII and the build quality is exceptional. We also have a community of experienced forumites on this thread and awesome support from AvSupply based in Cape Town. The latest ROM for the MXiii can't even be obtained in the states yet ... I have it on the new FW update. Like I said ... pretty cutting edge support here.

I'm not arsed about Minix or Geniatech anymore - found my box and my supplier of choice.

Thanks Guys for all the contributions made on here :)

@avsupply, I am in Durban, so would the shipping costs to here be R40 with Dawn/Fastway?

Hi d4zza

That is correct, it's R40 for the economy courier service to Durban
