The Droid TV thread

Netflix asks $250 000 for certification which is absurd!
That is crazy. Do they not realise that the more customers they get, the more money they get. They should rather use some of that money to sponsor Iceman with an MXIII

I have a 55" TV and SD looks pretty good as its upscalled as well.
I also have a 55" and SD looks pretty good. I took a SD video to the Samsung shop in Rosebank and we tried it on different models. You can see why the 6, 7 and 8 series have such big price differences, although they are all HD. With an HD source all the models are much the same, however with SD you can see a big difference in the upscaling.

I don't think I have up scaling, I have a 51" Plasma, couple of years old now. I think I am just going to get a Chromecast for Netflix from my iPad and keep using my xbmc on my raspberry for the rest.

@heartbroken I also had a Sammy Plasma 51" and I loved it to bits, the black levels are awesome on Plasma. Having said that I manged to calibrate my LED HD TV with this procedure for use on the MXIII with near perfect black levels and saturation.
The picture quality is of the hook :)

how much for one of your tv's? lol :D

@d4zza You should be able to activate HDMI CEC in MBox settings to use your TV IR remote to control Netflix.

Is there any way to get other Visualizations while playing Music?
Right now I only have two visualizations and I can't find any at all under add-ons. The limited research I did suggested that ProjectM and MilkDrop have Android builds, but I can't see to find details anywhere?!

Any Suggestions?

Check the sound settings - Settings > Advanced. Sometimes the settings can get lost and need to be restored.

EDIT: Some other suggestions from the Minix X8-H forums ...

I have no sound after reboot!
- It happens when your sound output in android settings is set to passthrough. You can fix it by changing this setting manually to a different one and go back to passthrough.
- It can also be resolved by playing short dolby digital sample video to "force" the sound to play, e.g. "Argon" from here: http://www.demo-world.eu/trailers/dolby-trailers.php You can download it and set it to launch automatically after each boot by using Tasker app from playstore.

If it's Auto, then it's set to SPDIF Passthrough. It doesn't seem to make a difference what setting I choose though.

I am running hdmi only.

-update-
Force hdmi pass-through and reboot worked. Not sure why it's auto is spdif when it's not plugged in.

Cool will have a look.

Out of curiosity, is there any way to change the pictures on the screen saver?
Unsure of the screensaver, will check, the SPDIF issue should be resolved in the next firmware.

My old pc that I was using as a tv media machine has died. Are these Droid boxes worth it as I need youtube and xbmc
