They in the hardest group, they gonna struggle getting out if they continue playing like last night.

Its between them and france for 2nd spot but France also played a bad game so that can give Italy some hope.

yea france where shocking

they really need henry and viera to get fit, or they are going out in group stages

Last 15 mins Italy woke up a bit and played more of the type of football expected from them but I dont think its so clear cut who the winner will be when they meet france.

did you sweden are trying to get hendrik larsson back into the team

i cannot find an article where is says he arrived?

anyone know if they convinced him to come back?

Poor performance from the azzuri. Holland's goal is still offside since in the interpretation of the law it says the players is still onside if the other player deliberately leaves the field. Panucci didn't leave the field deliberately since he was injured in a clash with buffon. Hence it should have been offside.

Didn't change the result since holland deserved their win but I really hope this is the last poor decision of the tournament.

On Italy I am very worried about our central defence. No Nesta, no cannavaro and no maldini for the first time in ages. I don't trust the new guys.

Henrik Larsson is in the team.

Possible line-up for Sweden(4-4-2):

Andreas Isaksson – Niclas Alexandersson (Fredrik Stoor), Olof Mellberg, Petter Hansson, Micke Nilsson – Tobias Linderoth (Källström), Anders Svensson, Sebastian Larsson, Freddie Ljungberg – Henke Larsson, Ibrahimović.

More offside controversy?

The previous chat about the offside rule was explaining what the offside rule was, no confusion for someone who knew the rule.

In last nights game, the offside rule is clear cut...if the italian footballer left the pitch injured then it was offside.

hj i had another look at the german goal man

that was so offside

the ball went forward not backwards, thats offside

maybe it was not offside because the guy he passed to was inline with him

o check this hj

A Euro 2008 controversy broke out on Monday over Ruud van Nistelrooy's first goal for Netherlands against Italy with referees and players arguing about an interpretation of the offside law. Van Nistelrooy scored in the 26th minute of his team's 3-0 Group C win in Berne, turning a fierce drive from Wesley Sneijder past keeper Gianluigi Buffon from close range. [+]

officials and players dont even know the rule of offside

UEFA were unable to clear up the matter immediately and none of the experts quoted on various TV networks seemed able to point to a rule in FIFA's laws of the game which could clarify the position.

Read up on the offside rule as you also seem not to fully understand it.

Has nothing to do with the ball going fwrds or backwrds. Its about where the players were when the intial pass happened to get behind the defense.

As quoted earlier in the thread, neither the BBC or ESPN think its offside.

yea but to get behind the defense is fine

when they got behind the defense that was fine but then they where both behind the defense when the last pass was completed

surely thats offside as far as i knew

if one of the 2 had scored without passing, onside for me but he made a pass to the other guy

surely thats offside?

How can you people be confused by the offside rule.

Geez.

Indeed. The ball went forward but the scorer came from in line or just behind the passer, which is why it was not offside.

Unlike some people have commented, the ball does have to go forward for it to be offside.

Damn that was a good goal - all 3 were good actually. Spain looking dangerous!
