The fine wine thread

I really hope all those are still very drinkable.

PS. I had a hand in making that Welmoed Shiraz. I was making wine in the Stellenbosch Vinyards group during those years.

Yup hope so too, stored lying down and in an aircon room. Will test a few of them out on new years eve, and let them breathe for a couple hours first. Need to clear some space for my other wine haha.

Some good wine there!
Zonnebloem today is not what it used to be....

Going to try this little one for today.

It was a very good year, '83 was even better. Today I had to make do with a 2016 vintage of the same, it was also pretty good.

Also opened a bottle of 1973 KWV Roodeberg today, it was still very drinkable, but had lost most of its charm in the past 48 years.

Opened a 78 Roodeberg last year, out of the 4 that and the KWV cab were probably the best but I ours at least was definitely past primeIMG_20211225_211134.jpg

Wow, if this was cellared correctly it will be magical.

I have a 2000 vintage waiting for that special occasion.
This was indeed sublime. Very, very smooth. Left some in a decanter overnight to savour and was even better the next day. My old stock getting less & less over the last few years. Need to keep an eye out to buy someone's collection out of an estate. Few & far between.

Anything from Springfield Estate is amazing!

@Candystore , next time you do a function, put Springfield Thunderchild in 99% of the decanters, and one bottle of Springfield Wild Berry 2019. When the people ask you what wine it is, tell them that you are not sure, but maybe think it's Springfield Wild Berry, about 2019-ish.

Was at Mellasat today. They have an under ground wine cellar museum full of donated bottles from various wineries.
