Hi I am having a strange issue with my b593. I have two iPads two iPhones and 2 w8 laptops all connected via wireless and a w7 laptop connected and tv connected via wired. For some reason my laptops connected via wireless when I wake them from hibernation when they try to connect to the router it stalls up the wireless module of the router then none of my devices can connect to the router wirelessly however the wired connections work fine. The only way to connect to the wireless is to reset the router. If I don't use the laptops to connect to the router the wireless works fine any ideas or should I return the router
 
It does sound as if the wireless chipset might be faulty. When I used the native wireless on the B593, I'd didn't have any issues except for range.
 
Many factors that could be be causing the issue you experiencing.. Example both notebooks having the same IP! Make sure your notebooks are set to DHCP! Sometimes conflict could cause be causing the problem or alternatively connect the notebooks directly to the lan!.

Please can one of the boffins recommend the better Huawei B593 model no that is compatible with all the SA networks on LTE, also the option that allows menu selection of internal/ external ant.

What network will you be using ? If you going to part of Telkom Mobile then we would recommend B593-601 as that router works on Telkom Mobile or alternatively B593-22 B593-82 for CELL C/MTN/VODACOM LTE network
 
Thanks for the response RichardG.

I'm located in the Greenstone area, poor signal all round from all the networks. Am thus hoping to upgrade to the B593, and 2x poynting yagis. Hopefully soon one of the networks will provide LTE in the area, thus selecting the B593 with the best network support would be the smart way to go I guess.

Any advise or suggestions would be welcome!

There isn't one available. Basically the choice is Telkom Mobile -OR- MTN/Vodacom/Cell C.

Only the Vodafone B593, as far as I'm aware, accepts the custom European firmware that unlocks the antenna menu. An annoying side effect is a foreign language - Danish I think, at the start up menu every time you visit the router login page.

It is plausible that the MTN Sh@relink B593 also accepts the firmware but I can't say for sure. No-one has posted the model of an MTN unit as yet.

Note the need for the antenna menu is completely unnecessary. If you have a quality antenna with DC short, the switch from internal to external happens automatically. As described elsewhere in this thread, you'd visit Settings > Diagnosis to confirm that initially.

A note on the DC short: I can't find any reference material that explains the shunting effect, only that it is for lightning protection. I'm sure that Poynting told me it's also achieves the internal > external shunt. Perhaps it was on their YouTube channel?

Thanks for the replies guys I had the router swopped out but seems the issue is still the same I have all my laptops set to obtain IP addresses automatically going to play around with different settings and see if it changes anything
 
I don't recall the wireless options of the B593 offhand. What about IP address reservation just for the three laptops? It does sound like hibernation is causing an issue. I still don't get it though as the allocated IP's should be marked as unavailable for the remainder of the lease term, typically 12 hours.

Perhaps the implementation on the B593 isn't very good and the IP's are marked as available again immediately; then the three laptops, coming out of hibernation, look for the same IP's and start causing conflicts for at least three other devices (six devices trying to use the same three IP's; you should get conflict notices on those devices though).

The other sure fire fix of course is to disable DHCP and use fixed IP's. This is not the first consumer DHCP I've come across that works badly. All or this would be a non issue if Huawei brought out regular firmware updates for the B593. I've not seen one to date. The world's leading LTE router and Huawei treat it like a castaway.

Thanks for the responses so far!

The following unit is available locally and advertised as: B593-82 modem routers. All you need is to stick an LTE sim card into the unit. The units are new, unused in box. R2700
The units will work on ALL the networks LTE/4G/3G
Voda/Mtn/Cellc FDD 1800mhz
Telkom Mobile TDD 2300hmhz

Can this please be confirmed.

I plan on a decent Poynting installation of 2 X LPDA-0092-V2 mounted for MiMo LTE (using 1xBRKT-030)

This setup should be compatible then on a current 3G network with Telkom Mobile, but gives the option of other network operators who will hopefully offer LTE in the Greenstone area in time to come...

Don't be another victim when purchasing from OLX/Gumtree or any classifieds website.

Do your homework on the model number especially on the B593 series you get so many variants out there...

There is one version out there that supports all networks forgot the number.

Whatever you do please buy your antenna from an accredited distrubor or supplier, felt tempted to purchase the antenna advertised on BoB.

Plynting Direct - that way they can give you the best advice on what antenna to buy etc.


Felt tempted to buy this from BoB but reconsidered.
 
Was looking at BOB & OLX for model no comparisons only, appears to be a minefield!!!

I will definatly purchase antennas from Poynting, have had good service from them in the past, however not cheap. An option is to call Huawei support on monday for assistance wrt correct B593 model selection that will support 4 SA networks, looking for the redundancy in the device, as networks don't all offer same coverage options.

RichardG, would appreciate if you can possibly dig the model no out your archives...

Any suggestions on reputable vendors for the B593, for 4 SA networks combined???

Have you considered taken the time to check if you covered for LTE on their Telkom Mobile LTE page - unfortunately it was over 2 weeks ago+. Contat Huawei support directly on twitter they will gladly assist you or alternatively buy 2 models - 1 that works with Telkom Mobile and the other that works with all other SP.

Redudancy would work if the specific router can take more than 3 SIM CARDS.

Edgars Mobile have the Telkom Mobile B593-601 router for R1999 - last time I was at East Rand Mall they didn't have stock but the following week they received it..
 
That B880 looks promising with all LTE bands supported, except it looks like a nasty little thing - like an E5776 MiFi on it's side. It also has only one LAN port - going a bit backwards. And reduced VoIP ports as well.

The sources you posted for the B593s-82 are hardly credible. I'd be inclined to believe 4GLTEMall which says 2300/2600MHz only.
