I will try this and report back. Just weird to have this problem after not having issues on any other routers I have used before...

A Yagi antenna works in a comparatively narrow range of frequencies, so the answer to your first question is a qualified "Yes", provided you are using the B593s-601 in the frequency band for which the Yagi antenna is designed.

Having said that, and looking at the specs, the Comba ODM-075V11N0 isn't actually Yagi antenna. It seems to be a wideband log-periodic dipole antenna (an LPDA) that works across several frequency bands.

Depending on which network operator you plan to use it with, I think there's a fair chance it'll work fine.
It is properly characterised for most of the frequencies currently in use in SA for 4G/LTE, 3G and GSM, and it has pretty decent gain and VSWR in all those bands. Certainly it looks fine for use with MTN/Vodacom LTE in the 1800MHz band.
Bearing in mind that it is a highly directional antenna, it would work best if you have reasonable line-of-sight to the base station you plan to use it with.

For me, there is however a slight question mark over its performance at 2300-2400MHz, since that band isn't specifically mentioned and there are no Gain- and VSWR-versus frequency charts in the spec sheet :

The question mark is very relevant if you're planning to use it Telkom's 4G/LTE service, which operates exactly in that band : 2300 to 2400MHz. There's also a slight discrepancy between what appears to be the Comba original specsheet for that antenna, and the Webb version of the same document. The former (clipped above) mentions performance up to 2300MHz specifically, whereas the latter doesn't. The band between 2300 and 2400MHz isn't mentioned in either one, so it's a bit of a gray area.
However since the antenna is well-characterised immediately above and below that band, I reckon there's a fair chance it would be okay.

As a bonus, I would understand the reference to a "direct ground" (for "lightning protection") to mean that it has a DC short, which means the B593s-601 should detect it automatically. This is a nice-to-have, but no biggie since the current firmware for the 's-601 has a "force external antenna" option.

It seems as if the antenna may have been discontinued, since I could find only an indirect reference to it on the Comba website here.
Comba also referred to it there as a "directional indoor antenna", so you may want to be careful if you plan to use it in a fully-exposed outdoor location.

I see that Webb have it listed for R2300. Bearing in mind that you need two antennas for optimum LTE performance, that is a pretty stiff price tag, especially without cables.
If you plan to buy them for use with Telkom 4G/LTE, I would query the 2300MHz compatibility with Webb directly before laying out the cash. As regards buying antennas for 4G/LTE, you can do as good or better with the same money!
However if you have access to a freebie, I'd give it a try for sure.

OK sweet tx for the detailed reply bud! It is actually for my friend who has one of those antennas that he bought from Telkom for his who wanted to sell it to someone for R500 who has with that router, so the guy wanted to know i it will work with his router. The guy had problems with reception when moving his router downstairs in his home but upstairs he has reception so he was looking for something to boost the signal. So it sounds as if this will help him.

Tried all of them with no luck sigh. Edgars and CNA say they haven't had them for more than 3 months now. And Telkom is just being Telkom....

It's a pity Takealot.com only allows collections from their Cape Town warehouse, otherwise you could have just gone directly to their Joburg warehouse to pick one up.

I really don't understand why takealot doesn't allow collection from their jhb warehouse? If they have a warehouse in jhb then why is it a problem to collect from there? I never understood this.

Hi all, I'm sorry if this was posted but I haven't seemed to have found a solution for my issue. Please could you point me somewhere or tell me how I can improve the signal strength for my B593 router? I am in an LTE area but only get 1 or 2 bars on the router. Would appreciate some assistance. Thank you

Hi All,

Does this router work for LTE-Advanced? Telkom is saying the LTE-A contract comes with this router which is weird because the max speed is 100 Mbit / s ? Am I correct?

Hi @Luf, I think they are different routers! You get one for LTE and one for LTE-A
