Possibly they were a beta version of the router.

Hey, guys. I registered here specifically to ask this question. I have this router, and it's very good. Except about once a week the following happens; suddenly my laptop and phone would disconnect from the Wi-Fi signal although I can see it, I try to connect to it but I can't. I tried 2 phones and 2 laptops, I can't connect to it. I have to go turn it off manually, turn it back on and it's fine. The problem would happen a week or so later again and I do the same thing. My phone says it's an authentication issue.
Any idea why this happens? Thanks.

You not alone also have the same problem on my router! Sometimes can take 2 -3 minutes for the router to allow me to access the web management page. It's frustrating at time - doesn't happen frequently but do reset the router regular.
Firmware needs to be updated.
I click on the update nothing happens! I think Telkom Mobile are blocking the ports, tomorrow will go to Telkom Mobile to see if they able to assist me

What was the problem you experienced ? If it wasn't your repeater what was the cause ? Interference on your network
In my humble opinion, fallback is not required. Because the B593 is typically for a fixed installation, roaming is a non issue. In fact, you set the service to always use LTE and never 3G.
In 8 months I've only once been affected by tower maintenance and it lasted a few hours. Lucky for me I still picked up 1 bar LTE signal from another tower which was perfectly usable. So I never ever use 3G.
However, the case for a B593 that supports all LTE bands is strong. Because you're typically piggy backing off an MTN tower, you will have a great MTN LTE experience as well. With Afrihost, using MTN LTE is almost as cost effective as Telkom Mobile. Upload speeds are also triple.
Therefore a B880 might be a great choice but so far it doesn't look like a very robust device to me. I'd like to see one in the flesh.
If you can't wait and are happy with Telkom Mobile at your house, go ahead and grab a Telkom Mobile issue B593.

Here is another option to consider which works very well for me. I use a TP-Link WR1043ND V2 wireless router using ROOter firmware. LTE is via an Huawei E3276-920 cat4 modem (with 3g fallback) plugged into the router. The E3276-920 model is for Telkom. The Huawei E3276-150 modem will cover the other networks. The WR1043ND has very good Wi-Fi (3 external antennas), gigabit LAN and a 1.5A power supply (good for modem power). I mention Wi-Fi because I hear that the B593 does not have good Wi-Fi.
Costs:
TP-Link WR1043ND V2 for about R850 (incl VAT and delivery)
Huawei E3276 modems from eBay are about R600 - R850 (which is where I got mine).
The above setup for me is rock-solid.

Yes, I'm using 2 external antennas.
By the way, you can install ROOter on your TP-Link MR3420 if you want to see what it's like. It will then be able to handle 4g/LTE modems. The only functionality you will lose is 3g/WAN failover because the MR3420 does not have enough flash memory to include that feature.
I'm not sure why you want both a MikroTik and a B593. It seems to me that the setup I described above with 2 modems could satisfy all your requirements (with a usb hub it can have 2 modems plugged in at the same time, with failover if you like).
You mentioned your combo was outdated, so I assumed you had version 1 of the MR3420, which does not support 4g (unless you put ROOter on it). But if you have version 2, then it will support 4g.
I can't comment further on your preferences for the MikroTik or the B593 because I have no personal experience with those devices. I was just providing you with information about a setup which I know works very well and should provide similar functionality to what you require, but at a cheaper price.
