The Huawei B593 LTE discussion thread

A friend just picked up a B593u-91. Page 1 lists it covering 2300 & 2600 MHz. Unfortunately she wants to use it with Afrihost/MTN. So there's no 4G, but my question is whether it can pick up Afrihost/MTN on 3G which from what I've read is either 2100 or both 1900 & 2100.

Looking for some help, I was trying to setup this router for a friend and I don't seem to be able to resolve the issue. Basically it always gives the error "Call in progress; cannot configure the router. Please try again after the call". I have reset the thing, tried with sim in, sim out, nothing seems to work and all the people discussing this error seem to be in foreign languages.

Any option on the admin panel just results in that error (including trying to upload firmware). With a sim in it does not find new firmware to install over HTTP.

Any ideas of what I can try?
 
I called around a LOT and no-one had any stock. I ended up trawling Gumtree and getting one there. They go quickly, though!
 
Hi,

Is there a way to enable no-ip.com as a dns server (as apposed to dyndns.com) on this router? Also, how can you do daily data logging on the bandwidth?

I went to see a B593-s601 (for my dad) on gumtree yesterday. It didn't recognise either my Afrihost SIM or my prepaid Telkom mobile SIM which both work on my identical model - in the control panel it just said there's no SIM. It did recognise his Telkom SIM. He said he was sure it was unlocked, but could it be not only locked to a network but to a SIM? Is there any other option?

And can it be fixed - I am still interested in buying it if possible.
 
I've got an Telkom LTE CPE B593 for sale, upgraded my contract so got a new one so want to get rid of the old one, any takers?
 
They sell for minimum R1200 on gumtree, at least here they do. You should put it on.
 
Apparently this router is end of life. I don't foresee Edgar's selling these routers on behalf of Telkom , cause they dont supply them with enough. Did go to Telkom Mobile
Only R1400 new.
 
I saw a B315 on sale for R2600 today, can't bear to pay that when the B593 does everything I need it to do. Am keeping my eye on gumtree, but will also try Telkom
 
Seems Telkom shops are selling the B315 at around R1300, which I nearly paid for a second hand B593!
