They aren't identical or twins but do look very much the same.
I also don't know what security setting the guy has it on.
For me I don't WANT to have to put in my pin every time, but that is just me. Then again I do have a brand new iPhone 8 and it works perfectly for now.

Yeah look I have a mate who most people would believe is my brother and that gets confused with me on every facial recognition platform available for the last 10 years so I can understand where the worry is coming from.
At the end of the day physical security should be your first concern for your phone and anything beyond that I consider a temporary layer with a given amount of time being the difference between it being locked or unlocked.

Also as mentioned in the article iOS is being "taught" to accept these two faces and did fail to authenticate at first. If they weren't purposely pushing to test it and helping it along in the process things may be quite different.
Still it's not unexpected for this kind of thing I reckon.
