The iPhone 4s availability thread

"Your customer order number U3##### has been invoiced, expect delivery shortly"...

Received this via sms from Vodacom today. Placed my order through the Upgrade call centre on Saurday. So rather surprised this is moving so fast... Or am I reading too much into the word "shortly"? :whistle:

Any thoughts on whether I could get lucky before Friday? Hope so - I'm on conference for the whole of next week...
 
You're correct -- activation is done on the device since iOS5 not strictly via iTunes as in the past.

Use that ref number to track it on RAMs website. You will get it no later than tomorrow. Got two other friends who got theirs two working days after applying

Can confirm that - ordered my through the call-centre on Saturday, received it today.

I'm also aware of this, will try and get the full story when I see him over the weekend... Like I said, could just be something small
 
How come everyone's getting their phones so quickly? :O This gives me hope! I confirmed my order with Vodacom via the call centre yesterday (after applying on Friday) and was told that it would take 1-2 weeks at least before I'd get it.

I just hope that if they do come soon, I'm at home when they do! Otherwise major FML's all around.
 
I have been waiting for my 4s for a month now!? Second on the waiting list at Vodacom Lakeside but still havent heard anything. Does anyone know when the next shipment has arrived? Or which store has stock in the Joburg area. My patience is wearing thin!!
 
I ordered a new contract from Vodacom...will I, too, receive the SMS saying that I've been invoiced with a tracking number?
 
called 0821950 - got told that there will be stock at the end of Feb!!!
 
Think Vodacom should get their act together. Yes, there is a huge demand for the iphone but then why advertise everywhere about the iphone if you don't even have stock????????? And in the same breath take away the normal iphone 4 option??????????

Demand severly outstripping supply, same thing happened with the iPad2. The hysteria will die down eventually.
 
Received my iphone 4s yesterday

Hi Guys,

I was quite surprised by Vodacoms service.

I upgraded my contract on the 25th Jan 2012 and expected to get my phone some time in Feb , to my surprise i receieved it yesterday.

If the RAM website says your package is out for delivery (as of 8:20AM), does that mean you'll receive it the same day?

And if they tried to deliver it but no one was home, would the tracker update immediately? I hope they haven't tried to deliver it already...

Phone Ram with the order number they can tell you.

It could possibly arrive at you the same day depending on where their warehouse is...

I ended up giving them a call...apparently they tried to deliver it today (thanks Vodacom for being so speedy in giving the correct delivery instructions :erm:), but no one was home, and Vodacom failed to give them my contact number.

I've arranged for it to be delivered tomorrow afternoon, so here's to hoping RAM's word/service is better than Vodacom's :)
 
SO is due for upgrade. I called a number of stores around Cape Town and none have stock, so she went the call centre route. They also said 2 weeks, but from the posts here I'm hoping for sooner.
 
Oof, tried the Vodacom upgrade call centre about two weeks ago, at which point they said waiting time should be about two weeks. Just spoke to them again10 minutes ago, and they now claim that they will only have stock at the end of NEXT month (March).

One or two vodashops around CT looks promising though – they claim to be awaiting delivery of 4S 16GBs sometime this week. Will post again if there's any success.
