Lemme try the Windows version, Mac not working for me.

What's the problem? I had to do a 3GS about 3 times before it worked on Mac, but my iPhone 4 was fine

Edit: I see in the other thread now. You did wait for about 7-8 minutes for the jailbreak to complete? Also got a verbose error but just ran it again and all was good. Id try a restore if the Windows version doesn't work.

I have a vodacom contract question... My dad want's to upgrade and get the iPhone 4 but I only see the iphone on talk 200 as highest contract, he has the talk 500, can he get it on that contract?

I ran it till the app said jailbreak complete - then left the iPad for 'quite' a while to see if it carries on jailbreaking on the device but no go - the windows version however worked - also got some verbose error but it proceeded to jailbreak on the 2nd try and reboot .

Now its the iPhone 4's chance - is it worth upgrading or should I rather wait for 4.3 and the eventual jailbreak.

Available on any contract (pay-in obviously varies). Vodacom doesn't advertise it on all packages though. Just go into a store and see what he has to pay in on a Talk 500 - shouldn't be too much ;)

Thanks, that's what I told him yea, just ask in store... I will see how it goes for him.

thanks fxit_man
tell me, how would i know if my phone was unlocked or not?

also, anyone had any issues jailbreaking 4.2.1 on Windows?
What should i be weary of after doing the jailbreak e.g. dont update from iTunes or anything like that??

and what the hell is SBSH blobs, Winterboard,Springboard,Tiny Umbrella?????

SHSH blobs - things stored with tinyumbrella. They let you downgrade your iPhone OS - have to save them on 4.1 if you want to downgrade to 4.1 for example.
Tiny umbrella - thing which stores the aforementioned SHSH blobs
Winterboard - theming utility for iPhone, availble through Cydia
Springboard - your homescreen (the app which shows the homescreen)

sorry for the stupid question but how do you carry the iPad with you? From what I seen on the tv it is about the size of a book A3 -A5 and looks awkward to carry.

Well you have to be strong enough to lift 800g, that's how.

An iPad is a device which pretty much requires a case.

I think it would look stupid walking down the road with something like that in your hand.

yeah, if you have a cover, it looks like a thin book made out of black shammy leather....how insane?!

+1 on Postman pot...."hey, whats that, a giant phone or a miniature Tablet?

Apple filled the market between phone and laptop, and samsung thinks it can fill a market between cellphone and Tablet....LMAO

I saw that Galaxy one on tv and I think they all cool gadgets but are they really practical? The cellphone got small and laptops got smaller and now this thing comes along and everything is bigger again.

There was a guy making and selling those internet tablets on here last year or so and I wanted one of those but he disappeared.

The Galaxy looks great, especially if it were upgraded to Android 3.0. Problem is it's more expensive than the iPad, despite being half the size - what was Samsung thinking?

As for those el-cheapo Android tablets, they're mostly junk. Buyer beware.

Hi There,

Apologies if this has been dealt with before.

I have a friend who was given an iPhone 3G as a present from her father who lives in Mauritius. When we turn it on it stays on the "Connect to iTunes" screen where all one can do is enter in an emergency number. I assume the phone needs to be unlocked for the sim to work? I have followed the guide listed on the first page of this thread but am not sure how to check what baseband the phone is on without being able to access the menu? I saw that there is a number you can dial but I tried that and it didnt work. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Patrick

@paddy - is the iTunes logo a blue orb or the old icon with a CD in it?

You'll need to jailbreak first and then it will activate the phone to get past that screen. Then determine baseband version and perform the unlock.
