Thanks mxit_fan.

Yip, I downloaded SwirlyMMS (have another question on that), had all the settings as you gave them except for the port no : 9201. Just tried it, still doesn't work. MTN gave me a username and password (same word - think it was mms), should I leave that out.

Re Swirly, how do I get the latest version? I downloaded it yesterday, and I got the old version.

Thanks again

To get the latest swirly, you have to add Swirly's own repo to Installer - http://www.swirlyspace.com/SwirlySpace.xml but i think its on the Ste repo as well by now..

Hmm... Have u tried the username and password MTN has given you? If not try that, if that still doesnt work try giving MTN a call and ask them what their MMSC is, Proxy and APN name

Thanks, thats where I got the original settings from. I used the username and password (which is mtnmms for both), have now tried it without it as well, and still get same error.

Would desperately like it to work! Any other suggestions ?

Here it is exactly as I got it :

MTN MMS
MMSC: mms.mtn.co.za/mmms/wapenc
Proxy: 196.011.240.241
APN: myMTN
User name: mtnmms
Password: mtnmms

(I see they added an extra m in mms in the mmsc - have tried both ways).

Thanks

That "0" in bold above should not be there AFAIK... And try it with and without the :9201 port

Ok, I am a total noob. Can you please explain this step by step? I have no idea where to start.....

Thanks again for all the help....

No problem... Go to Installer, click sources, then click Edit, then Add..type in the repo (www.swirlyspace.com/SwirlySpace.xml) and click ok...then wait for it to refresh, go to Install, then SwirlySpace category, and the version should be 3.xx

Genesis & Sega CD Emualtor released for iPhone!!!

Zodttd, creator of snes4iPhone, gpSPhone, and psx4iPhone, now brings you Genesis4iPhone. So far it runs Sega Genesis (MegaDrive) games and Sega CD games, although the latter are still a tad on the slow side.

The app is still in beta, which is only available to donating beta members of Zodttd's site, but a 1.0 release will be on the MMi Installer and Cydia sources for free to anyone by Friday.

Zodttd keeps bringing us some great game apps - thanks.

was wondering if buying a router/wireless dongle would work?

also, is it possible to connect my iphone to my laptop's built in wireless? would be nice to sync stuff without having to plug my phone in...

I dont see why not... You just have to create an ad-hoc wirless network in the create a wireless network wizard in Vista/XP and enable Internet Connection Sharing by checking the "Allow other computers to connect to use this computers internet connection" checkbox in the properties of the wireless connection... That should do it but if not , you can always return the dongle :)

It is possible to do that using the ad-hoc wireless connection as explained above, but iTunes will not recognize it like this AFAIK... I've never tried it so i guess its worth a shot, but i dont think it will work.. Has to be connected by USB i think

The app does work i know that much, so its just a proxy problem on your side or MTN's side

Gigabyte has a cheap PCI router that costs about R500 if you want a cheap one, I bought one but now I'm using a Telkom ADSL router.

Its a standalone router that functions even when your PC is switched off, it only needs a power current from the PCI slot to operate.

yeah the AppSupport Patch for 1.1.4... i dont think my dialer crashes as such , just the call failed error which i dont think is a crash so i dont think it will fix that prob but i guess its worth a try...

But why arent you on 1.1.4 by now? :D

im close to reaching the end of my 3g bundle... so i'll wait until i go home for the holidays (next weekend!!!) and then use the uncapped adsl at home to update the phones XD.
one is 1.1.2 still, so its like 160mb to get to 1.1.3 and i dunno how much for 1.1.4... or can i just skip 1.1.3 and go straight to 1.1.4?

yep u can... u just have to restore the phone in iTunes which will go straight to 1.1.4 then use an unlocking/jailbreaking tool to sort it out

Hi, ok, have tried numerous variations! Still no luck in getting the mms to work! Ha ha, I am on contract, so I should have airtime.....

I think I am going to need pictures...

Managed to upgrade to v3.xx, thought that might help, but nothing.

Anyone on MTN?

@avdp - sorry, not related to your mms question, but do you also have issues with your iphone when you try to make calls?

for some reason i always get "call failed" almost every time i try to phone someone. i then have to cancel the call and retry and then it works. is it only me who has this problem or is there a way to fix it?

I can confirm i have the same problem. It used to happen on my KJAM as well, so, it does look like a vodacom thing, or perhaps the SIM card. Mines around 7 years old now.

Also, about that Teapot - it looks like one of the standard primitives in 3D Studio Max. Do know why they've used that though?
