Your only hope is that you're insured... Google iPod repair Johannesburg, there's a company that does repairs that might be able to help

Sue the bugger that dumped you in the pool....

I just got a the iPhone 3G from Vodacom and have firmware 2.2 and now want to have cydia on my iPhone so I can install certain applications. I have searched the Internet and am confused as to whether i should use QuickPwn or Pwnage cause there are warnings about a soft unlock or something to that effect. No idea what that means.

Anybody know which route I should take? Thanks!

Try leave the phone in a bag of uncooked rice for a day or so (as long as you can). The rice will absorb the moisture on the phone. Not sure if it will work too well as you cant remove the casing of the phone, but give it a shot

That will sort you out.. Just use QuickPwn and you're good to go. If you've already updated to 2.2, skip the first bit and just run QuickPwn. You'll need the firmware file still though. It should be on your Pc already if you updated via iTunes. Cant remember the exact location, but google it

Just use quickpwn, the Vodacom iPhones are already hard unlocked, no soft unlock needed

ok, I knew it was going to happen one day. I have broken the screen on my iphone! Vodacare say they will not replace the screen but will give me a new phone if I pay again, don't think so. Does anyone know any anyone in Joburg who can replace the screen (am waiting to here back from ifixipods.co.za), or point in the direction of where i can get a replacement screen locally and I will try myself - from goolge, seems a fairly easy process.

I tried this and everything went smoothly except i cant use safari. getting the error "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet". I am getting a 3G signal. Weird thing is it did work straight after I jailbroke it on Friday but stopped working when I checked this morning.

Check your access point in Settings, General, Network, Cellular Data Services. Change APN to "internet" without quotation marks or "iphone.vodacom.za" without quotation marks

Thanks, but it seems the issue is due to a program I installed via Cydia called BossPrefs. All is working now.

sms problem

Hi!
I am experiencing a problem when I receive sms. Despite having the sender stored in my contacts, it doesn't show his name. the number appears in the following format: +27...
so only if I have the number stored in this format will it display the sender's name!
Please assist.

happens when you have the same number under two different names in your contacts, which sms app are you using? The one that came with the phone, or bitesms or irealSMS?

Call records

My iphone only stores call records for the past 1 week.
I thought it could do better!
Any suggestions?

I am using the normal iphone sms app.
I dont have the names stored twice...

What firmware are you?

Check in Settings, General,About

Also try Resetting all settings. Settings, General, Reset, Reset all settings.

It will reset all settings to default (APN etc etc) so just change them back after

I have a quick question, I have scanned through all these pages and cannot find any reference to it, so maybe its just me.

Got my phone on the 24th, my first iphone. Love it. But this morning, I realised there is no sound comming from the phone, no matter what i do, I then noticed that according to the phone, I have my headset plugged in, although it is not.

No matter what I do I cannot get any sound. So I took it to a vodashop centre, and wont really go into details about what big aholes they are (according to them I can get a new phone around the 29th of january), I brought the phone back home (to wait for the endof january, I need a phone)

So I searched the internet, and according to google this happens very often (although I could fine no reference here), accordingto even apple, it happens when the headset connector gets filled with dirt (although the phone is 4 days old and has never been in my pocket). So I tried all the rememdies, but nothing works.

To me it seems like its software related, when I call comes in, I havre to switch on loud speaker, then it works fine, I can toalk to the people and hear them, and when I disconnect, it still has sound, till I want to use an app that produces sound, like iBeer (Coolest app ever), or even ipod, then it immedtialy goes to headset mode, even though the headset it not plugged in.

Has anyone, ever encountered this? I have restored my phone and everything, but it remains the same
