I just got a the iPhone 3G from Vodacom and have firmware 2.2 and now want to have cydia on my iPhone so I can install certain applications. I have searched the Internet and am confused as to whether i should use QuickPwn or Pwnage cause there are warnings about a soft unlock or something to that effect. No idea what that means.
Anybody know which route I should take? Thanks!

Just use quickpwn, the Vodacom iPhones are already hard unlocked, no soft unlock needed
I tried this and everything went smoothly except i cant use safari. getting the error "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet". I am getting a 3G signal. Weird thing is it did work straight after I jailbroke it on Friday but stopped working when I checked this morning.

Check your access point in Settings, General, Network, Cellular Data Services. Change APN to "internet" without quotation marks or "iphone.vodacom.za" without quotation marks
Thanks, but it seems the issue is due to a program I installed via Cydia called BossPrefs. All is working now.
Hi!
I am experiencing a problem when I receive sms. Despite having the sender stored in my contacts, it doesn't show his name. the number appears in the following format: +27...
so only if I have the number stored in this format will it display the sender's name!
Please assist.
I am using the normal iphone sms app.
I dont have the names stored twice...
My iphone only stores call records for the past 1 week.
I thought it could do better!
Any suggestions?
