Everyone has been raving about this new app.. Gonna check it out and let you know. fring doesn't work at the best of times, and there is a delay which annoys me, even when I have full 3G reception.

I cant get it right! And Its so much easier to talk to someone!

Ja well there is a version for the iPhone in development! Just not too sure how long its gonna take...

Oh well!

Trying to jailbreak 3G on a Mac with Leopard: pwnage tool constantly says I have selected the wrong firmware for the 3G (using browse for .ipsw), I am certain I have the correct .ipsw (iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw) - anyone had this happen?

Are you sure you selected the iPhone 3G in Pwnage?

Do you have the latest version of Pwnage?

Are you sure you downloaded the correct firmware (for the 3G and not 2G iPhone) ? I ask this because they are the same file names, so it's an easy mistake to make

Check here for firmware links.

Pwnage version 2.1

Did download FW from that link (iClarified), relatively sure I chose 3G but if I did misclick and they have the same filename then how the hell does someone check this? File size?

EDIT: filenames differ:
2.2.1 (2G): iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H1_Restore.ipsw
2.2.1 (3G): iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw

They are similar, but not the same the 2 indicated 3G firmware, so he has got the 3G version. The question is does it match what is on the phone. Also was there not some issue with the latest Mac updates and DFU mode?

3G iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw
2G iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw

File size I have in windows says: 252,304 KB

hmmm... my filesize is 246.4 in Leopard downloaded the FW for jailbreak purposes and updated my handset from iTunes last night - seemed logical maybe just to me though... :o

Hmm so the handset was updated using the same firmware file that you are browsing to in Pwnage?

I don't see why it should work then..

Me either - kinda wondering if the download is whats broken... guess I'll be heading into my 2nd gig of iPhone firmware downloads for this month, granted some of it was my fault but sheesh!

All I can say is: don't keep two different generations if iPhone under one roof, its bound to end in tears. :p

Get a local acc and DL it on that. Or buy a 1GB from telkom and once the 1GB is used up you'll have 10GB of local which you can use to DL the updates etc!

If I look at the properties in Windows size on disk says 246 MB, which is very close to what you see in Leopard.

I would also think if that was the firmware you updated the phone with that it would work with the jailbreak. You 100% sure you have the latest pwnage?

I would suggest downloading the firmware again (making sure this time), restoring the phone to the firmware you downloaded, and using the same firware file in Pwnage again.

If that doesn't work, then use Windows via Parallels/Bootcamp or something :p

I think his firmware is fine. I am pretty sure iTunes would have croaked if the firmware download was invalid (IIRC there is a check of the file integrity before the update).

Caution: Pwnage is not supported in virtual environments ;)
