My Beejive is suddenly working like a charm ... hope it keeps this up.

[EDIT] Apparently there's problems with push support and -unofficially-unlocked phones. It makes sense I guess...

my phone is not jailbroken. Vodacome is always so far behind.

Hi Guys,

Iv read (skimmed) over the last 50 odd pages of this thread from where it said I should go for ippc for internet tethering, and then it went on it to say it was a very bad idea, unfortunately before I got to the bad idea part I had already done it.

I am in a 3G area and it works perfectly and very quickly and I am able to send mms no problem, is their any reason why I should restore my phone?

My apologies if I have missed a post or page that explains this.

Really? Dammit dude, I've been using it since yesterday and the stability is awful. But I'm starting to think it's not the apps fault. Do you get 3G reception at home?

[EDIT] I keep losing my data connection, I can't even open sites in Safari periodically...I've never had this problem before :(

your issue is with the current ipcc

we working on it

depends which ipcc you applied, where did you get the ipcc you applied (be specific)

the most recent one is relatively stable, I'm working on a slightly more stable one though

I've figured mine out now ... as long as I don't put in the MMS settings my stuff (Beejive Push and internet browsing) works fine. But with MMS my data conn. is unstable ... I guess I have to install those IPCC's you guys posted last time from marcforrest's site (I'm afraaaid ... very afraaid)...for now I'm just going to ignore MMS and tethering.

PS: I haven't installed any of the IPCC's from the "old" stuff.

just updated to 3.0 os, jailbreak was fine until now. ultrasn0w couldn't unlock my vodacom pay you as go sim card? any suggestions?

in my jailbreak i selected 'activate phone' as i was getting an error message from itunes sayin my sim was not compatible or something. should i not select 'activate' if i want to use ultra sn0w?

just tested with another vodacom sim, its working.
only difference with this sim its a contract sim.

what do you think could be the problem?

Hmmmm - tried to tether now with Marc's ipcc files and the phone rebooted twice - in a 3g area but 3g was not enabled on the phone - enabled 3g and it went in fine. - Just for info of marcf & theron.

we're having a very annoying call drop issue with the ipcc, i think it has to do with mmn and cellc mms' not coming through

I must be honest I am not enjoying OS3 - Its slow and jittery / Laggy. Fsking annoying I must say :(

Think I might start agreeing with you :( Not living up to the hype
My battery life seems to have also shortened...not sure why though ??

I have noticed anything with the battery mainly because I charge it practically every day, but seriously not happy. I think I might go back to 2.2.1 and see, the MMS, tethering, search etc etc really is not worth this kind of crappy performance to be honest.

It seems to me like they have designed OS3 more in line with the 3GS specs thus knocking performance on the 3G. Pretty dissapointed :(

that one is quite stable, so, if your data connection isn't acting all funny, just keep using that

there is a newer one available, but we're still investigating a few things

the way vodacom publishes it's mms service on the network is very odd, and it's causing a lot of cr@p with the iPhone, most other phones have workarounds built in to handle this, the iPhone doesn't, so, it's 50% iPhone's fault, 50%vodacom really

tether and mms testing help needed

right folks, I need someone to help test a known issue on the marcforrest ipcc

I don't have everything I need to test, so I'm hoping there's someone here that does, you need:

iPhone 3G
O.S. 3.0 (preferably not jailbroken, but jailbroken OK)
any other phone that supports mms (not iPhone, or, iPhone 2.x with swirly OK)
any MTN/cell C phone (or access to an mtn/cell C phone) that can send mms
some time on your hands would help....

guys, keep in mind, 2.0 had similar issues, these will be ironed out, and my guess it will be done soon, apple usually has the first update for a major release out very fast

you don't want to go back to 2.x, as many app store apps won't be supported on 2.x anymore very soon
