@paddy - is the iTunes logo a blue orb or the old icon with a CD in it?

You'll need to jailbreak first and then it will activate the phone to get past that screen. Then determine basement version and perform the unlock.

Not too sure what the iTunes logo looks like - will have a look this evening. Will jailbreak it this eve and let you know how it goes.

P.S Carbon Fibre Skin is awesome! Will take a pic soon - been moving houses so things are a bit chaotic.

Peace

Great to hear man :) glad you enjoying it. Really is the best looking "mod" for the phone imo!

Cheers

When we turn it on it stays on the "Connect to iTunes" screen where all one can do is enter in an emergency number.

iPhone just needs to be hacktivated & unlocked (if it's not factory unlocked) . I think Tiny Umbrella should be able to give you a break down of the ios it's running and it's baseband.

Hi There,

Apologies if this has been dealt with before.

I have a friend who was given an iPhone 3G as a present from her father who lives in Mauritius. When we turn it on it stays on the "Connect to iTunes" screen where all one can do is enter in an emergency number. I assume the phone needs to be unlocked for the sim to work? I have followed the guide listed on the first page of this thread but am not sure how to check what baseband the phone is on without being able to access the menu? I saw that there is a number you can dial but I tried that and it didnt work. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Patrick

Just connect it to iTunes, don't think Mauritian iPhones are network locked, if they are it just won't activate

Hi, 2 of my friends have returned from UK to run local restaurant. Each has a iPhone, network locked with varying versions of software and needs to be unlocked.

1- 3G 16GB 4.2.1 (8C148a) - 05.15.04

This one I assume will have to get the iPad base band, but for some reason it won't work with redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 and 4.2.1 (8C148). Does the "a" make a big difference ?

Have managed to jailbreak it with GreenPois0n, but can't get the baseband up to 6.15 with RedSn0w.

2. 3G 8GB 4.1 (8B117) - Jailbreaked with RedSn0w, just need to figure out the unlock as UltraSn0w did not work or will not work because there is no 6.15 base band.

Why do I let myself into this, but this being Struisbaai I am their only hope.

hey guys
i'm not sure if anyone of you experienced this, but its REALLY FRUSTRATING!!
there seems to be a queue of unwanted downloads in the "Download" column on the left in iTunes
Each time i connect to iTunes, it automatically downloads even though i deleted them one by one

is there any way i can PERMANENTLY delete this as its becoming very annoying!!

i searched high and low and cant seem to get an answer on Google :(

Only way to remove the downloads is to complete the download...

You have to email Apple iTunes support and ask them to clear your downloads. It's the only way. They respond very quickly.

Managed to get the 8GB 3G unlocked but the 3GS is giving me grief. The baseband won't update to the iPad one 06.15 using Redsn0w. Without that I can't get it unlocked with Ultrasn0w.

Any other ideas on what I can try ?

Have you tried pwnage tool on a mac? If you have access to one give it a bash.
