Sure. Let's be clear. In this case, the appropriate sentence was handed out. In other cases as you mention, the sentence is way too lenient, and should be called out and condemned.Rape gets a life sentence while murder and some robberies get only a few years. It does look like our legal system singles it out while not taking on a whole seriously.
Yes if you look at it from that angle. But if you look at the fact that most serious high profile offences get lenient sentences where you can be out in a few years it creates the expectation that serious crimes should not have harsh sentences. You don't call out the norm. That's not how things work.Sure. Let's be clear. In this case, the appropriate sentence was handed out. Let's not start calling this piece of ****'s sentence too harsh though.
If we don't talk about what's wrong with the system, it will never be changed. We know it's wrong, and we can't just go with it, cause that is the greater wrong.Yes if you look at it from that angle. The issue is that it's the correct sentence which gets people talking and pointing out the flaw in the system. That shows we have much bigger issues. If we don't talk about what's wrong with the system, it will never be changed. We know it's wrong, and we can't just go with it, cause that is the greater wrong.
The language we use and the way we use harsh and lenient are important.

Would you rather run the risk of putting an innocent person away for 25yrs or the same innocent person getting the death penalty?Murderers should get the same sentencing as rape. But in which direction do you want to push it? More years for murder or less years for rape?
More humane, I'm not sure. I'd wager a person would choose a life in prison over death. I'm interested to know how many lifers repeat their offense once on parole. The crazy sickos sure, but the average joe?Would you rather run the risk of putting an innocent person away for 25yrs or the same innocent person getting the death penalty?
I say run the risk with the death penalty. More humane for an innocent individual than the torture of 25 yrs behind bars.
Plus plus plus with the 99% success rate you'll eliminate repeat offenders
We can Say its race or we can think about how Nicholas was caught and by whom and what did those witnesses do and send out into social media that makes him more infamousCan someone clarify why this incident has well over 1000 posts while this one has zero? What exactly is the difference (apart from the skin color of the perpetuator)? Mind you, in my example the little girl has died. That should make the incident even more serious.

I don't turn anything into nothing. I am just asking a question. If it was after me all rapist and murderers should be shot on sight!Turning a rapist into a martyr for your agenda? I never expected much, but even this exceeds my expectations
That's not quite it. A rapist is a rapist. But then you also know that and I think nobody here disagrees.Turning a rapist into a martyr for your agenda? I never expected much, but even this exceeds my expectations

It's sick that people even turn child rape victims into pawns. That is what is wrong with your response, the part you understand and you're denying. So please try again.
Heard about this on the way home yesterday. What bothers me is why didn't the eyewitness say something? If you see something dodgy then speak up?
A rapist is a rapist, but there seems to be a clear preference for the race of the rapist. Instead of saying well done, race is brought up to carry an agenda.
While it may not have been a defense, the point was raised about race instead of supporting the conviction of a rapist - clearly this is an indication of where the priorities lie
