Yes if you look at it from that angle. But if you look at the fact that most serious high profile offences get lenient sentences where you can be out in a few years it creates the expectation that serious crimes should not have harsh sentences. You don't call out the norm. That's not how things work.

If we don't talk about what's wrong with the system, it will never be changed. We know it's wrong, and we can't just go with it, cause that is the greater wrong.

More humane, I'm not sure. I'd wager a person would choose a life in prison over death. I'm interested to know how many lifers repeat their offense once on parole. The crazy sickos sure, but the average joe?

Heard about this on the way home yesterday. What bothers me is why didn't the eyewitness say something? If you see something dodgy then speak up?

Now here is the situation that puzzles me beyond belief over many years::
