The Official FreeMe Thread

on the phone (disconnect from wifi and make sure the sim's mobile data is active) go to onnet.telkom.co.za and it should show all your balances including the 1500 all network minutes which you should have been allocated.

Yeah, no luck.

I actually got hold of Telkom mobile support and the response I got (I kid you not) is you'll know how many minutes you got left when you can't make calls any longer. IE 0

In her defense I think she was being funny. She reckons there is currently no way to check your available minutes balance on month to month using *188#. Says there aware of the issue, have had many queries about it and are working on a solution.

Must say this package is a very different animal when set to MTN only...

Freeme voip question. When they say you have included 500mb voip data, does this mean voice calls though chat apps like whatsapp, and/or SIP voip calls? Has anyone tested this?

Finally took out the freeMe Family contract I've been dreaming of. So far so good. Very helpful sales assistant got everything up and running in about 30 mins. 4 SIMS already good to go. I've only tried the main SIM so far.

Can't seem to get the Telkom app to work properly though. It keeps crashing. Is this something I should expect to persist? Even Vodacom's mostly useless app works most of the time...

When set to MTN only is the coverage what you would expect if you were actually on MTN? That is what one would expect...

Yes, except no LTE. 3G maximum...
Yes. I suppose that's not the end of the world, depending on your needs. I don't think I'd notice the difference between 3G and 4G when out and about. And at home I have ADSL. On my phone, there is an option to set the Telkom SIM to MTN 4G - I take it that this does not work?

Try it see, maybe there's been a change of policy.

I dumped my Telkom Freeme package about 2 months after signing up. Got the MTN black Friday 50gb sim only promotion. Nothings come close since...

Fair enough. The beauty of freeMe family of course is that you can set up 10 people on one contract from 699 a month.

For the guys on FreeMe, do calls to 0800 and 0860 numbers get billed? I see that the deal says that it excludes calls to non-geographic numbers.

Hi Guys

Can you load more than one Freeme boost bundle within a month?
ie: I buy the 1GB package which is valid for 31 days. I finish the data on day 20.
On day 20, can I purchase another 1GB freeme boost package?

Thanks
