The Official RaspberryPi Thread

It was but they have never actually released any because of the backlog and demand for the Model B.

It just looks like a bit of marketing push to target the embedded control type applications where a lot of the features are not required.

:) I still like my new B models though. Compared to the Atmel ATmega328's I played with before, my PI's rock bigtime!

Yup, but an HDMI port is not much use when you are bit-banging I/O ports ;)

Just a headsup, i ordered 2 Raspberry Pis from Electrocomp (http://eexpress.co.za/) on Wednesday (6th Feb) and they actually tried to deliver to my house just now (Friday). So yea, 2 days , very surprising. Costs R450 for the Model B (shipping and all inclusive).

Direct link to the item : http://eexpress.co.za/index.php?p=search&searchid=2191863

Their site only have a search bar, so it can be a little confusing, but the stuff is there.

How did you manage to get the hard drive working, you say the USB hub was the culprit, what changes did you make as I am currently in the same boat. Please list brand and model of USB hub (is it a powered USB hub) as well as Volt and amps of USB hub. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to know that. Quite odd. Price is £25.00 x E/rate of R14.50 without clearing and shipping will give you an amount of R362.50. As a Farnell Element14 Distributor, we Electrocomp Express have a std price of R450.00 + vat only clearing costs added, no profit as agreed with Raspberry Foundation and Farnell.

Farnell and RS are the only 2 official catalogue suppliers for the Raspberry Pi.The prices should be the same.
Guess you got lucky somehow.
How did £25 become R163?

Enjoy playing with your Pi, let us know if we can assist further. Regards Electrocomp Express

I need more power...I need a powered USB hub for my external wd element hard drive ( it is USB powered); any recommended brands in SA, it needs enough amps to effectively control multiple devices, such as webcam, wifi dongle and 2 x 1gb hard drives. I need help in choosing a power source as well, again amps is important. I currently have all the above equipment, but the current amp rating is not sufficient to utilize my raspberry pi. Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I can help you with stock from Farnell Element14

I'm looking for a method to split out the DTS from the HDMI signal. There is nothing in any shop (and I have looked all over). Any suggestions? I want to offload the DTS to an external receiver but keep the HDMI from the Pi going directly into the TV. The budget for solving this problem is roughly R500 (MAX), so buying a >R3k amplifier is not a solution...
