The A-class board has a 700MHz Broadcom brain just like its B-type cousin but has no Ethernet connector, just one USB port and 256MB of RAM. It's ten dollars cheaper at $25 and uses around a third of the power of the Model B
Raspberry Pi on a diet: New skimpier, cheaper model on sale

It was but they have never actually released any because of the backlog and demand for the Model B.
It just looks like a bit of marketing push to target the embedded control type applications where a lot of the features are not required.
Yup, but an HDMI port is not much use when you are bit-banging I/O ports![]()
Got my HDD to pick up now, the USB hub was the culprit
Just a word of advice to the new Pi owners, if you playing mkv's with DTS audio, you gonna have a bad time!
Does anyone need a power supply?
How did £25 become R163?![]()
Enjoy playing with your Pi, let us know if we can assist further. Regards Electrocomp Express
I need more power...I need a powered USB hub for my external wd element hard drive ( it is USB powered); any recommended brands in SA, it needs enough amps to effectively control multiple devices, such as webcam, wifi dongle and 2 x 1gb hard drives. I need help in choosing a power source as well, again amps is important. I currently have all the above equipment, but the current amp rating is not sufficient to utilize my raspberry pi. Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking for a method to split out the DTS from the HDMI signal. There is nothing in any shop (and I have looked all over). Any suggestions? I want to offload the DTS to an external receiver but keep the HDMI from the Pi going directly into the TV. The budget for solving this problem is roughly R500 (MAX), so buying a >R3k amplifier is not a solution...
Doesoes your tv not have a digital audio out?
