It was 5c stronger to the Pound 20 hours ago than it is now. So this is Dollar weaknening more than anything.

I read somewhere that the lowest it is predicted to go is around R11.40/$ and that is only in about 12 months.

SONA debate is over; that was yesterday. Doubt it would have any affect on the Rand as its just a debate.

Problem is he doesn’t want to be the one to yank the patronage network so I reckon he wants Gigaba to announce the need to cut gov size. Even the. He wants a full on investigation albeit obvious that Zuma bloated cabinet to get yes men.

If he was so weak; he would not have made it this far. He will do things in a way that they cannot be challenged in court. So, just purging cabinet "cos, ya know, bloated' won't work for him. As he mentioned, lifestyle audits, and audits on cabinet and government as a whole is how he will do it - where he can prove, with actual evidence on the reasons why he removed people from positions.
