He will do things in a way that they cannot be challenged in court. So, just purging cabinet "cos, ya know, bloated' won't work for him.
Actually at the minister level it is the president's sole prerogative to do whatever the hell he likes, as proven time and again by the zoomster.

It cannot be challenged in court, or at least it has zero chance of being successful. Cyril's concerns would only be about how it is received by the ANC, not a potential court challenge that he knows he will win.

If he was so weak; he would not have made it this far. He will do things in a way that they cannot be challenged in court. So, just purging cabinet "cos, ya know, bloated' won't work for him. As he mentioned, lifestyle audits, and audits on cabinet and government as a whole is how he will do it - where he can prove, with actual evidence on the reasons why he removed people from positions.

It's his prerogative. He can fire ministers and hire them as he pleases. Nothing will end up in court.

How many people that Zuma fired, do you remember ending up in court because of unfair dismissal?

My point is, CR will want to do it in away that avoids the Gordan style removal backlash.

Budget is leaking via the media. Vat will be 15% from 1 April.

R/$ Back in the R11.60's......

Dollar to Rand seems to have stabilized, I can assume our new range is now R11,60 - R11,80/$

Hopefully with a cabinet reshuffle, it might be able to go lower.

Through SARB might be looking to the drop the rates soon also.

BREAKING

New territory:

1 US Dollar equals
11.58 South African Rand

Any insight into why the rand is charging this morning? Usually by lunch time Friday it weakens until Monday when markets resume.

Investors have taken in the new cabinet and the Rand against the dollar is now out of R11,50's and into R11,60's

Not really a result of the reshuffle. It was R11,63c yesterday just before 16:00 ;)

If the land grab motion in parliament today gets approved we will probably go over R12 again.

Hell even if there is a no resolution the rand might depreciate just because we entertain such silly discussions.

Nope, seems the market has already factored in the Land Question....it is a question that has to be answered, better under CR than some other twat.
There's simply no possible way for the market to price in land grabs, none. The only thing they can price in right now is an assumption that it won't happen, the millisecond that assumption proves false the market will react, wildly.

IMO expropriation without compensation will cause a major run on the Rand.

That is an understatement. Investor confidence will be shot, just about over night. There might be some uncertainty till it's clarified later on, but in the end we'll lose ALL gains made for sure.
