There is an enemy out there

What is being forced down my throat and others is your constant criticizem of people who look at the current situation of South Africa differently than you do.

If my one tiny voice of positivity on here bugs you so much can you just imagine how all you back slapping, rah rah, country bashers on here feel to me?

The thing is that you refuse to see anything other than your own opinion. I agree there are lots to be positive about SA for but there are also lots to be un happy about.

You will see, if you bother to not just read between the lines, that earlier in this thread I said that there are a number of things that can and should be improved. A lot of you take my posts as being aimed directly at you, which does make one question your true views, but often my posts are a response to the general feeling on this forum at the moment. Everyone, well a lot of people, seem to thrive on posting bad news stories as they appear just to score points for their agenda. That is not going to solve anything. Is it?

Hey, the other day even a two place move up the FIFA rankings was knocked by someone on this forum. Totally unnecessary really.

I think a lot of people (myself included) were once positive and proud to be South Africa but it seems to us that everything we loved and cherished about this country is decaying.

1) We had reliable and standard water and electricity. Even that has started to fall apart, contaminated water, Eskom charges us more for less.

2) The Scorpians and Child Unit, both either were or are being disbanded by the ANC. Seriously some of those units have 80%+ success rate.

3) Our public hospitals were once amazing, when last did you go to a government hospital, its total chaos.

4) You could go for a walk, even climb up table mountain and now you do that chances are you will be a) Mugged, b) Raped or C) Killed

5) Inflation continues to rise, yet our salaries stay the same...

Do you see my thinking?>

There's a big difference between posting positive material and posting unsubstantiated propoganda.

Methinks you need to stop your trolling and find something better to do ... that is all.

I see your thinking but your perceptions are based on what you are being subjected to in the press and by your peers.

When was it that you were positive? For most people I bet it was as recent as a year ago, or less. What has really changed since then? Well we have had an issue with the power crisis, so now everyone has hoped on the band wagon and has started lambasting the government and this country for everything. Things have probably got no worse but we are reading about it more as the press is telling the people what they want to know (as we have covered repeatedly and as shown in the original post on this thread). People are now dying to say I told you so, so by reporting it the press sell papers.

I do not know when our public hospitals were amazing? I have not been in one but would not have wanted to go to Addington in Durban ever since I arrived here in 1988!

Is Table Mountain really that much worse than it has always been? Crime has been around for years, which does not make it acceptable, but are things really that much worse? (We'll never know really as crime stats have historically never been reported properly - especially during the apartheid years!)

Inflation is not the preserve of the South African government! In fact most drivers are outside the control of the government - food shortages and oil prices.

We could argue points all day but this is exactly the problem all of a sudden everything is the fault of the government.

Methinks you need to stop your trolling and find something better to do ... that is all.

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion

Please give me your definition of trolling?

As my understanding is that what you are doing on this thread of mine would be trolling. Not sure how I can troll my own thread! This entire forum was taken off topic recently with the infatuation with government and country bashing! I am merely sticking to the chosen topic of the month but giving the other side of the story.

The part about on-topic in the definition is interesting to me as I did post this in off topic.

According to your idea everyone who posts threads and links to articles about crime and the state of the government should also be tagged as trolls....

... I used Addington in those days ... not much difference from Entabeni then. Oh, and don't comment on how different somewhere is if you never went there.

(P.S - I meant keep you usual k@k out of OT ... you seem to like being provocative and it isn't warranted in this section)

Ha ha ha! O.......KAY !

PS Your posts are k@k to me.... one man's meat is another man's poison. You should apply for a mod job seeing as though you seem to like acting like one.

1) When was it that I was positive, it was before everything started falling apart at the same time.

2) People blame the government for the countries for its problems because it's their JOB TO RUN THE COUNTRY! Not to ignore Eskom 10 years ago when it was known that we need more power stations and not to let the coal reserves diminish.

3) Crime has been around for years but it has gotten worse, surely you can see that????

4) It is the press responsibility to report on many aspects of SA which they do, including all crime and problems. However I fear the media might soon be governed by the law.

5) The crises in South Africa does impact the price of goods and oil, that is common sense.

6) If it is not the governments fault then who's is it?

I do not want to keep going back and forth like this but I do find it interesting that the link you provided to show how much worse crime has got in this country in the last few years says this :

The UN statistics also contain some flaws (e.g. gun crime in South Africa).

From 2001 - 2007, however, the murder and crime rate has stabilised according to official police data

Also the link below appears to show that things have not got dramatically worse in the last few years, but in fact slightly better. Now remember I am not arguing that there is no crime, so do not say even one murder is bad as I know this, but it has not increased dramatically! And please do not stoop to disputing these figures too....

I have specifically only posted the link for murder as this is the one that always comes up.

For more details relating to all crimes since 2001 have a look at this link :

One quick question, does that include all the cases which had all the dockets go missing>?

Yip, I knew you would do something like this but didn't cover this specific scenario.

Obviously all crime stats are dependent on the reporting thereof and that is the case anywhere in the world!

Please can you show me your stats, which include the "missing dockets", which show a major increase in crime.... (oh wait your link already said it had stabilised... which it has done and better!).

I know you would react the way you did, believing states presented by the SAPS, you don't honestly think they would show the entire truth do you>?

Ha ha ha who else will you get crime stats from? ha ha ha. Oh wait maybe we can get the criminals to release their stats. I'm sure they keep a log of all crimes committed. Cough cough... m_r_n... cough cough

Still waiting for your stats by the way.... from your unquestionable source of course.

eh? lost the whole point of this topic at the 3rd page... oh well...

There is no crusade. Bad things are happening - most hidden from us by the police and government. Heck, even the government are involved. To ignore them would just play into their hands. Nobody likes it and we discuss them to release anger and frustartion. SA is the Post Traumatic Stress capital of the world in case you wondered ....

We don't question the press enough - sure - but that would just create another layer of BS. If you have grounds to believe a story is wrong then by all means dig.

We just can't all be ostriches.:p

Sadly your last remark is incorrect....the few that choose not be bury their heads are mostly despised and reviled.....
My word I love this country and the people that live here, but it does not change the fact that there is currently a conspiracy of such magnitude at work, words fail me.....

Funny that, you can guarantee when LancelotSA gets involved, the thread takes a step dive.

He's surely on a mission, forcing his opinions on others.
