This is the Telkom LIT Android media box

Cant believe you guys are defending this box. Total waste of my time.

Maybe for people exposed to a mediaplayer for the first time, its ok to play around with. But it cannot be your main mediaplayer.

Any reason why I can’t? Streamed Plex from a server at my parents place.. DSTV Now works albeit crashes now and then.
My issue being the promise of AppleMusic which seems to be a lie.

Works decently for the price and I was using a Roku3 before

lol I just trashed my trusty openelec box for this. It does everything i need.
 
Not selling anything, just a sucker that owns one of these boxes.

One of the main issues I have is that it does not switch the output refresh rate properly, e.g. 24p films are played at the default refresh rate of 60HZ, which obviously causes judder as result of the 3:2 pull-down.

So what’s the best way/app or hardware to play movies at 24p. I assume to get the movie feel.
 
Kodi has options to change output refresh rate but it doesn't seem to work on android tv at this point.
 
I don't understand how some people think they gonna get features of a R4000 device when they buy a R1000 device.

I'm happy with the LIT device. It does what I need. The only thing I don't like is the dimming in DSTVNow. But that's a problem with the app, not the device.

The problem sometimes is not even the media player... think all movies are shot at 24fps, and most tvs at least the cheaper ones doesnt have the greatest refresh rate anyway, so struggle with those. You would seriously need to splash the cash on both media player and or tv...

Oh well, if it makes you happy.

Just btw, you dont have to spend R4k to get proper playback. Still using an "old" HP n40l Kodi box on a 10+ year old plasma set, and the quality is miles ahead. Only problem is no Netflix and Showmax, which is why I tried this LIT box.

Yes but thats the point. If you want a future proof device that does everything just buy Shield. Worth's its price. Second Mi box. With Android TV people have always tried to pay sub 1000 but want perks of expensive devices. They would never buy a Alcatel and expect S8 or IPhone 8 performance and features

Does your n40 do hevc?
