TopTV DIY Installation

I have done everything on this forum and still cant get TopTV to work. Does the type of Coaxil cable you use make a difference?
 
Cause they say the will only be able to get to me in a +/- a weeks time due to backlog of installations. Whats the easiest way to pick up Sirus4. I been struggling the whole weekend and cant get the decoder to pick up any signal

The easiest way is with a IF measurement instrument. Cheapest costs around R6K ex VAT... Let me know if you want to buy one from me, or why don't you just get an installer? :wtf:
 
Rather get an installer.
You have been going on this from the weekend.
You mentioned the installer takes + - a week.
There is only 3days left and a week would have been complete.
Have you tried another installer?
Which area are you in?
 
After all the stress of trying to get someone to install my TopTV i decided to buy a decent field strength meter and register with TopTV to become an installer. They should let me know tomorrow. In the meant time it took me no more than 30mins to have everything up and running

I think I have underestimated your DIY capabilities! Well Done! :D
 
Bought a Horizon USB Field Strength Meter from Elsat for R4500. Got my TTP number from TopTV and have done 10 successfull installations so far.

Nice meter... We used to sell them too and when we stopped, Ellies started selling them.

No DVB-S2 though. Might be a problem in the future. Did they explain this to you?

The actual Top TV transponders are using the DVB-S2 standard. Your meter can't read those, but is using the Globecast FTA tranponder in DVB-S to get signal level and BER (quality). We do not know that the Globecast tranponder will be available when they switch to the new satellite next year, so you MIGHT have to upgrade your instrument next year. I bet you will not be happy.

Top tv & dstv lnb works the same you just have to turn it 7 oclock for top tv and 5 oclock for dstv. I am using top tv dish with my dstv decoder it has 100% signal strength
