TopTV special launched - R299 dish, decoder and installation bundle

FailTV? NeoFail?

Rather be original and call it T**TV...

The pay tv model is fail (excluding live events). But TopTV is supplying a demand, and creating competition. It's a win-win.
The new startup pricing is great!

I agree. Many people have been out of the loop from extra channels due to cost issues, but TopTV certainly has helped make a difference which we can give them credit for.

Nice price cut, I needed to get another one for my mom.. this will help.

Great way to compliment the new channels that's going to be added in October.

This is a push to increase subscribers. The more subcribers the better the content. But If toptv wants to ensure good quality they should launch more of their own channels.

I don't get it - would you guys want a newcomer that might grow and become competition towards Multichoice, or would you want Multichoice to keep their monopoly forever?

seriously, compare TopTV to what DSTV was when it first started, then we can talk again. you can't expect them to have more content than DSTV while at the same time ask only 1/2 the price, be reasonable here.

give them credit where it is due, gents - they did make an impact, they are growing, and they are improving with price too (as per thread)

if you have DSTV, good for you - I have uncapped Graboid so your service looks utter sh]T in my eyes.

at least Top attempt to lower pay TV in South Africa (for DSTV users too), instead of DSTV just raising it by itself.

Besides, dstv is tosh too - they all suck

Keeper, I agree with you.
I am a TopTV subscriber even though I do not watch.
Other members in the family do watch though.
Hopefully I can help them achieve better programming.
When they have sport, I will watch more but I will keep my subscription even though I am not watching.

Silly question: is there a way to run DSTV and TopTV on the same dish?

Something I have noticed is that the TopTv bouquet is often compared to that of the Dstv premium bouquet, where rather you should be comparing it to that of the Dstv compact package. When taking into consideration that the TopTv premium package costs R249 and the DSTV compact costs R232, now we should rather be comparing these two bouquets, in my honest opinion just having Discovery T&L, Discovery Science and FLN etc... renders the Dstv compact utterly useless. Also taking into consideration that there will be an additional 5 - 10 channels added in October.
Yes there are annoyances but they are slowly but surely working their way to a prime product that will force dstv to slash their prices drastically, not this Dstv lite bull! But a proper shuffle of the bouquets to create a cheap but entertaining bundle.

Let's get this thread pumping, TopTv needs the exposure

Haha nice. Original. Will probably stick, especially if TopTV start to piss people off, which I hope they don't. Is anyone gonna register the domain TosTv.co.za?

+1.

At least we're moving in the right direction - forward, unlike Telskum / Neofail / ICAKA / DoFC (Department of Failed Communications) who seem to be moving backwards, at a very consistent rate.

Even if I'm not going to make use of this offer competition is good mkay.

If you hold on long enough, they'll start giving their dishes & decoders away just to get their subscriber base up.

At least they challenging Multichoice and the pay tv price war is on. When is Top Tv gonna do an on-demand offering?
