Toyota 86

Geez you (few) guys can go on & on....

My popcorn is long finished

It's only Brenden causing k4k as usual. He has to resort to trolling car threads and using his wife's Tiguan as a benchmark, because he wears the dress in his relationship...

Flooring a sports car in 3rd gear on 2500rpm up a slight hill and hardly getting momentum is nothing to scoff at. Unique to the 86. It is special in this regard. Cool? Cool.
You could say that about v-tec and vvt-i engines too. Why single out the 86? If you're looking for low-down acceleration from a high-revving engine, then you're either driving it wrong, know nothing about cars, or both...

Most low torque, high revving engines will behave exactly like that.

"TDI engines are **** because they run out of puff at less than 6,000 RPM, I hate it when an engine doesn't pull cleanly to the 9,000rpm limiter." - That's the same argument reversed. The TDI engine's weak point is high RPM, and if I just it by that weakness it will always disappoint.

Like I said MUCH earlier in this thread, a turbo car with DSG will probably suit your driving style much better than a GT86, however that doesn't make the GT86 crap.

Amazing how Rusty has long since disappeared after sprouting drivel earlier.

Exactly this. He's trying to judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree.

His wife's 2 ton, 110KW Tiguan, which is apparently faster than an 86...

Oh right, that's the massive power he was used to before getting into a GT86, it all makes sense now.

Who's we? And I lusted for one (it looked so good) until I drove it. Pedal to the metal and...prrrrrt. So not an armchair critic. I feel my critique is valid and based in experience. Even you keep qualifying it with *at the coast.

So no, if you try and defend it's power as adequate you are lying through your teeth. If it was perfect you would be driving a 86 and not an S2000.

The only real consensus here is that 86 owners on the forum (especially Mike) relies on their car to make up 80% of their personality. And pointing out flaws on the car, o boy, that's an attack on the personality.

Didn't you plan on buying one.. Even after driving one with plans to klap a turbo on it bru? But you just didn't like the orange?

@Brenden_E Feel free to ask this dwarf if my car is slow... ;)

My grandma drives a civic, and yes it's somewhat similar. But that's exactly it, maestro, this is supposed to be a sports car, not grandma's wagon.

For such a long-ass thread (debate) I'm surprise there is no mention of that (standard) oversized rear wing on the 86 "Limited Edition".

Same 147kw output...though the wing will let you believe it has 300Kw+

There is no new list price of the Limited Edition as its all sold out...IIRC it was like R20k more or than the "High" model.

I still dig the 86/BRZ though...clearly some people in this thread do not understand the essence of the car...to each their own.

Lol at this thread... Quick tip, as soon as someone starts quoting power figures and 0-100 or 1/4 mile times they are a 14yr old boy playing top trumps.

The GT86 is an absolutely fantastic car to drive and if you can afford one and can live with it's impracticality then buy one, unless you are one of the 14yr old boy racers above, then buy your Polo GTI, look like a ****, mod it, break it and go crying to daddy for a new one.

/thread

14 year olds love the 86, when they grow up they get smarter...

The guy knocked the MX-5.... that's the end of any car debate. If a car "enthusiast" thinks the MX-5 is crap they surely know nothing about cars.

Mx-5 isn't great for everyone. I drove one and my eyes were level with the top of the windscreen XD
Mx-5 is made for midgets :\
