Hi guys

Just bought the router today. i have 2 problems.

1) i get these stats

Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 257 231
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 245 103
Output Power (0.1 dBm): 0 -17
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 20048 1032

surely my snr margin and attenuation stats cannot be right.

2) how do i set the wireless security settings properly. its on unsecure, but when i try to select WPA2 and insert a password the router tries saving and nothing happens. after that i cannot connet to the router. i have to reset the router to default everytime. is there anything i am doing wrong guys.

You need to divide by 10 to get true router stats.
You can do the wireless setting in either the "wireless" menu or in the "quick setup" menu.Have you tried both?

On the left menu select wireless and then in the expanded menu select security.

If you're trying to set the security over wireless that might be the issue. Set the security with a cable the first time.

This TP-link is great. My connection is stable ever since getting it.

You could also just times your attenuation by 0.1. ie. 245x0.1 = 24.5

yip, i am trying to set the security settings via wireless from my laptop. will do it tomorrow

this router gives me great stats for my line

Stevie G:
1) Those SNR margins are normal (excellent to be exact).
The (0.1 dB) implies that the actual value has to be multiplied by 0.1 - aka divide by 10. So the 257 SNR margin becomes 25.7 dB ;)

2) Set up your router via a LAN cable and make sure that you're WPA2-PSK, with TKIP as the WPA Encryption mode.

I have set it up on the lan cable, but when i try to connect via wireless it just gives errors and cannot connect

check your wireless settings
basic> enable wireless checked> country south africa
security>qss enabled
network authentication mixed wpa2/wpa-psk personal (adaptive)
advanced> channel 11> mode 11bgn>bandwidth 20mhz>wmm enabled

I've got mine up and running for a week now and I must say I have not had any hassles. Initially I also battled to get the wireless to work, but then managed to set it up and it is working 100%. :)

when i put in the details of my isp and when i give th SSID a name and put in a password, it does not want to save the faking details when the router is rebooted. i only also see it runs at 54mb/ps on the wireless speed. its supposed to run at 300mb/ps
