Transcom Software?

Has anyone heard of this company?
They have a great website and sell Adobe software at amazing prizes?
http://www.transcomsoftware.co.za/

They're based in JHB - but haven't replied to my mail. Their live chat is ALWAYS offline and their telephone number always has the same voice mail (saying they are experiencing unusual high call volumes). Doesn't matter what time of the day you phone.

Anyone nearby their physical address or know of this company?

Cheers

Domain name registered a month ago (through an Aussie host).
8 years in the industry, shipping thousands of orders daily, and Google brings up nothing?
Couple of 'global' companies with the Transcom name, but they don't seem to be software resellers.
From our purpose built offices and distribution centre, we ship thousands of orders everyday to satisfied customers.
106 Montrose Rd
No numbers higher than 43 Montrose Road on google, and it sure looks like a residential area on Google earth.

Personally wouldn't go anywhere near them...

Edit: there seem to be 2 Montrose Rds in Midrand, the second one has IT businesses in the area, but again street numbers go from 1 - 43.

Thanks guys. Thought so. Was about to buy and suddenyl wanted to ask them a question. No answer from phone. From CPT, so can't check out address.
No answer from email and live chat is down. Very professional looking site - so interesting.

If you GOOGLE "Adobe CS4 Design Standard" or any adobe products. They're a number 1 hit sponsored link for most products in SA...interesting...

It pains me to confirm your suspicions. On Monday this week I "bought" Adobe InDesign from Transcom. When the package had not arrived by this morning, I Googled them again -- as I had done before paying Transcom. By then Benigma had raised doubts. That'll teach me to ignore my own niggling suspicions. And to buy software in a hurry.

TO confirm, then: Transcom Software is a scam. May future searchers not fall into the R6500 trap I just did.

Payment is through credit card, so you should be able to reverse it through your bank?

Jason enters the chatroom.

Jason 04:47:00 PM

Hello Brendon, my name is Jason, how may I help you?

Brendon 04:47:07 PM

Hi Jason

Are you guys legit? There is no number that someone answers? Just voice mail?

Jason 04:48:38 PM

We are legit, can i help in any way?

Brendon 04:48:53 PM

Why does your phone number not work?

There is a post on the internet. The only google post that says otherwise about your company. I suggest you dispel, because that's getting a lot of negative press:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?221526-Transcom-Software&p=3707885#post3707885

Jason 04:50:52 PM

Ill pass that information on

Brendon 04:51:02 PM

So...

How can we know your trustworthy if everyone says otherwise and your phone numbers don't work?

And one user says this today: It pains me to confirm your suspicions. On Monday this week I "bought" Adobe InDesign from Transcom. Jason 04:52:58 PM

I dont know which customer that is, all our orders have been dispatched and gone out to our customers

Possibly this is one of our competitors

Brendon 04:53:15 PM

And your office number?

And your street address?

Jason 04:54:09 PM

011 4613297 - we dont take orders by phone so lines are generally busy with customer service enquiries

Brendon 04:54:26 PM

Office doest exist at that street address location on your site?

Jason 04:54:49 PM

Yes it does

Brendon 04:55:28 PM

And more than 24hrs ago I emailed the company info@ and sales@

no email response?

Jason 04:56:04 PM

I dont work with email responses, i can only apologise if this is the case

Brendon 04:56:34 PM

So Jason, if your phones have the same voice mail - whether you phone at 6:00am, 9:00am (office hours), ANY time of the day (tried 30 times) and 7pm last night. That's dodgy. If people in JHB say the road stops at 43. That's dodgy. How long has Transcom Software been going for?

Jason 04:58:29 PM

Im sorry you dont have any trust in us Brendon, we have obviously not got a sale from you, i hope you find a company to buy your software from. Thanks, Jason.

Brendon 04:58:57 PM

Well I am willing if I can gain some form of trust. How long have you been going for?

Jason 04:59:23 PM

The company has been going 8 years however we have only recently been advertising on Google

Brendon 04:59:33 PM

And the website been going for?

Jason 05:00:35 PM

We have recently revamped our website for the google launch, so the new website has only been going a month or so

Brendon 05:00:56 PM

Ok Jason, I'll try call you guy tomorrow again.

Jason 05:01:38 PM

Ok, if you have any trouble getting through you can always come back through to me on live chat

Oh for heaven's sake! I am the person who was ripped off by these cretins last week. I am not a competitor, I am a person who could ill afford to lose R6500 to some fake, phishing motherph*&^%. It was "jason" who reassured me my order was on its way, and even directed me to a FedEx site with a tracking number. This is a lousy scam, and has been reported to Adobe and Interpol. If anyone knows the correct people to tell about this in SA so at to get the site taken down, I'd be grateful for the info.

As for the fellow who suggested the credit card purchase could be "reversed" -- that ain't how it works, according to the bank.

If I were you, I would also look at cancelling the credit card. You could see some other dodgy purchases on it in the near future.

It's definitely a scam. Take a look at the hints on the left hand side:

"Photoshop CS4 from R209"
"Dreamweaver CS4 from R188"

Reverse the charge ASAP and suspend your card.

Tell them it's a scam. You should also contact the hosting company, and google ASAP and tell them about the problem.

Yes, that was the second thing I did... the first was to gnash my teeth and wail.

Copycat what did you purchase? InDesign?

yes. more than six thousand government ronts down the drain.

and the awful kafkaesque thing is that every few days I get an e-mail from transcomsoftware.co.za with a FedEx tracking number telling me the software is on the way. I guess the point of that part of the scam is to keep punters hanging on -- keep them from cancelling their credit cards right away.

It's probably more to stop people reporting them so they can scam as much as they can before getting nailed. Every day counts.

Open a case with the Police station and then visit your bank with the case number.
