TRENDnet = no good

fair enough,

would you say it's a popular brand? (of the various brands your company sells)

hmm, i wonder what got him banned... the reason why I called you a clone is that there's suddenly a few(more than 2) new logins trying to protect the same brand

In our Networking Division(our company is renowned for being the TOP IBM Distributor in South Africa), I would say that it is Popular, but for me, there is always room for improvement. TRENDnet doesn't only offer Wireless products and Switches etc. It has quite a variety of products and 85% of their products are sold in the South African market.

I understand why he was banned, and me being called a clone, But could you guys please unban Suggs so that he could at least give some input in here. Trust me, we are here to help, there will be no advertising going forward

Thanks

Read the whole thread. It just seems that you are stuck on a particular product being bad when let’s face it all products have their problems. What counts is that the Vendor fixes the problems. And more over people that post and are willing to contribute there CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to bettering the product would be more proactive and would lead to a happy consumer rather than the above going backwards and forwards. If you have a problem speak to someone about fixing it. And if they are offering to help all the better. I hate bad service and I think that companies that want to have a happy customer should be on these sites checking to see if there end users are happy like the "CLONES" that you mentioned are doing. They have my vote.

TrandNet, Netgear, D-Link = Consumer networking
Rucus, Cisco, Nokia = Enterprise networking

Linksys = consumer networking but now having coffee in the enterprise lounge (after Cisco acquired the company).
:-)

That's why IBM does rebranded Cisco data centre switches and not Trendnet...

I work for a PC store (won't say which one) that stocks TrendNET products.

When we first received the stock, we were all somewhat wary of it but went ahead and sold some units. The amount of returns we had on those products was just incredible. From routers not functioning correctly to people who actually phoned them for support and being told that they were NOT going to update firmware on their products told me all I need to know about this company. Unfortunately it isn't my decision to carry the stock but I damn well won't sell it. I don't believe in lumping customers with useless pieces of plastic. I seriously question the ethics of companies that churn out such crap and then still have the audacity to not support it. This stuff would be better if it was melted down and molded to provide shelter for the poor in these winter months!

And then I just lol @ all Beeeeeeezo PRETENDING like he isn't a sales rep for this junk. Claiming miracles and "beefing" it up, that just alienated people further than anything else. Thanks, I think I shall show this thread to people in power in my company to get rid of some dead weight.

I was thinking of getting the Trendnet 150Mbps Mobile Wireless N Router - TEW-655BR3G (Version v1.0R) for my Neotel Huawei EC168C. I've had no confirmation that it would in fact work, so yes I will give it a miss.
Hi rph72

As promised, I have some feedback,

TRENDnet have tested the EC168, but have NOT tested the EC168C yet, but the models have minor differences, so it should work.

If you are in the CT area, we could set up a meet, and physically test the Modem on the 3G Router, if you'd like.

Ok, that will be great. Will PM you my number.

Hi StevenC

Thanks for the above comments

Wont you do me a huge favour please, could you please pm me your details of the PC Store you work for, so that I can at least go back to my superiors and TRENDnet with the above criticism, so we at least know where the brand is getting bad rep.

I have been doing the support for TRENDnet for over a year now, another company used to do it on our behalf, and never in the time I've been doing this, have I turned a customer away or refused to firmware update their unit. There were times where I couldn't assist a client, and asked them to send their unit back to me for me to check out, and if there was an issue, I swapped it out immediately.

There were times when I got returns, where the product didnt even look like it was faulty, but I swapped them out with brand new units, customer almost always use to get the newer version unit.

Hi folks

We discussed this thread with the commentators, and will soon confirm the company reps. It may be of value for them to comment :)

Thanks RPM,
After our telephonic discussion I did what you said and have subscribed again under this name,(i'm sure that will also come under scrutiny from Liverpool fans)

So as it stands I am here to answer any and all questions on the brand.

How do I now go about now being able to represent Trendnet as the importer/distributor.

Regards

Why not just be TrendNet rep 1 , TrendNet rep 2 - after all you're running a company and would like to look professional? No?

Anyhow its not like you are a poster with a huge post count and a reputation at stake so I don't know why you would do anything other than a company name.

Another client insisted, contrary to my advice, on purchasing a TrendNET N-Wireless ADSL Modem+Router.
Out the box, plugged in, wireless working... but refused to establish any PPPoE connection, so it was effectively useless.

Opened Netgear box, set it up exactly the same way and it was instantly connected and working 100%.

So far I've had 3 completely unrelated TrendNET experiences over the past 3 years - all ending exactly the same way. That is, returned and replaced by a competitor (NG/DLink).

This is the unfortunate truth, so good luck to anyone shopping around.

LOL, still waiting for peAKs to call me after I gave him my number. Just about forgot about this.

I bought a mini USB wifi and it works perfectly, even has the win7 64bit drivers.

Right - call me stupid if you like - but I did it again. I bought another TrendNet product. This time it is a TEW-658BRM 300mbps wirless ADSL router. It will serve as replacement for my aging D-Link DSL-2740U.

Lets see if TrendNet really is as good as the rep claims it to be. If not he might be getting a router suppository.

LOL, amazed to see this thread is still going.

Trendnet = GWM
Cisco = Porsche

As in most things, you get what you pay for.

I too have use the odd Trendnet product.
Obviously I don't expect it to perform like a Cisco.
But as long as I remain connected I'm happy.
