Uncapped ADSL for R159

no sh*t!

"We are confident that we will have a uncapped service for under a R100 before the end of the month. Watch this space!" listed from their website--I am watching eagerly!

And the deals keep rolling in... I'm still standing back to see what happens in a month or two. Not in a hurry to jump into anything just yet.

Nice, but why hasnt MyIsp been as prominent as the other low cost isps? their prices are pretty good...

Thats quite a nice cut, but it's shaped. Still waiting to see what Telkom is going to do, but looks like they were caught with their pants down. Too busy worrying about speeds than data caps.

Internet Solutions do offer the ability for isp's to alter contention ratios. So only time will tell what speeds users will experience on this.

Each and every uncapped offer will need to be tested.

But in saying that, well done MyISP, great pricing.

hello WAMATT...did you once say that R50 per gig would be the new norm...

I cannot help but be hesitant at this offer. I think this is designed for your 'regular' browsing household only. You can't possibly get away with massive usage on accounts priced like this...

good work indeed.

biggest score for me would still be a bump in linespeed, 384k just doesn't cut it anymore. not even @ R29/gb

Telkom or IS

Are they reselling Telkom bandwidth or IS??

All these offers are shaped, with no real details of the shaping. I think we need a standard program to perform a set of benchmarks for various ports, protocols, etc., using a standard range of servers. Then the ISPs can, of course, start tailoring towards the benchmarks :)

I think someone who signs up for one of these uber-cheap uncapped services and expects to do continuous YouTube, torrents, etc. is going to be bitterly disappointed. Hopefully MyBB or other sites can start digging into real comparisons of these offers.

I had an uncapped Uninet 128k service years ago, and, trust me, it was useless.

The last few weeks have been incredible. Within a few years we could have better internet than some first world countries.

Listen, it is not what's on offer, it is the price imo. The public has been screwed for decades with high prices. "We are confident that we will have a uncapped service for under a R100 before the end of the month. Watch this space!" MyISP, is doing it right!

How shaped would this service be?
I dont fully understand the technical / networking jargon, but wouldn't alot of people be sharing a limited allocation of bandwidth?
I'm not sure how to ask this in a better way.

EDIT: By the way - End of the Month is on Wednesday, 31 March.
