You're right. US has 24th-highest case fatality ratio, which is a better metric to judge by, and many first world countries are higher on that list. So no Bill is not correct. And also he's whole argument is invalid since if he was leading the charge it would have been even worse due to his trust in the WHO.

So as to your earlier point of "Why bother" is so that you stop spreading nonsense out of context that neither you nor the person you quote actually knows anything about.

Don't forget the economic and infrastructural resources at their disposal.

You don't even have to compare them to other countries. Given their capabilities, it is an absolute and total failure.

Also don't forget the population differences. European countries demographic are older than many 3rd world countries so this acts as a counter point to the economic and infrastructure benefits.

Extraneous variables and all that..

That chart pretty much shows there is no correlation between lockdown policy and the resulting infections.

Sweden had no lockdown, no mandatory masks yet they have a lower death rate than countries that did those things.
Spain is George Floyding people who don't wear masks, yet they have a higher death rate.

If any country needs an example of how lockdowns and policies no matter how early, strict and draconian do nothing other than **** up the countries, they just need to look at us

That depends on which country is looking at South Africa, no two countries are identical therefore policies shouldn't be identical. Lockdown is far more impractical for South Africa as it is for somewhere like Austria.
