If the virus does sufficient damage to the respiratory system and your body does not fight it correctly you will die. You don't need a co-morbidity. Otherwise you'll have to start claiming no one has ever died of just the flu

One usually dies as a result of coronany or respiratory failure as a result of covid infection.
One does not die of covid.
Covid would be the underlying cause of coronary or respiratory failure

If you want to look at it like that then no illness actually kills you. It's the secondary effects.

If the virus causes the effect, which was not there before the virus, then that virus is the cause. The means by which the virus achieves this is not relevant. Which is why the Flu can be listed as cause of death

If you use ublock Origin on chrome you can bypass the paywall on most sites except those that generate a different page if not logged in.
