Hi

I have a series 5 Samsung, but it is not a smart TV. I have an old hard-drive that I connect to a USB of the TV and I can watch shows with no problems.

Recently I bought a new hard-drive for work. When plugged into notebook, I am alerted that the device can perform faster cause it is USB3, but it works well anyway.

I now tried to use it with the TV in exactly the same way as the old drive, but it is not picked up. The cable plugging into the drive looks different (flat rather than square) but the cable going into TV looks similar.

Maybe the TV doesn't support USB3 drives and can't compensate? What am I missing,

Thanks guys!!

Model number of tv and drive? My Samsung supports my Seagate 1TB USB 3.0 drive, it's a series 6 though.

The should be backwards compatible (USB)

Is the drive 3TB?

Yes. It is 3TB. Assume that is the issue? If so. Will it help If I partition the drive ?

Thanks for the reference, have a good weekend. Will shout again if I don't come right :-)
