Hi everyone

Hoping someone can help me out with the below:

- Package shipped from the US via USPS on 10/11/2021 (last USPS tracking update provided on this date).

- Called USPS and got told they have no updated tracking information beyond 10/11/2021 as the package is probably in South Africa already and has not been scanned again locally.

- Called SAPO and gave them the US tracking number and they are unable to provide any info.

- The package does not have a local tracking number.

It's been 6 weeks since the package left the US and I am unable to get any information from USPS or the local post office. Is this normal? Is there anyone else I can contact?

Any feedback from someone who has been in the same situation would be much appreciated as this is the first time I am receiving a package via SAPO.

Please advise if I can provide any additional information

Thanks!

You do know that SAPO has basically imploded. You can try downloading the SAPO app. I have had mixed success with it, especially after they updated it. But it is worth a shot. I dont use SAPO anymore.

Ah damn. Yeah with USPS I don't think you're given a choice but to use SAPO?

I am in the same boat. Parcels can now take up to 3 months to get to you.

Best of luck. Hope it wasn't something important.

Is there any number I could contact other than the SAPO customer service number? Its been 7 weeks today since the package shipped from the US.

I read somewhere that the post office in Epping deals with international items - anybody know if this is true?

I thought the state of the post office was a well known thing at this point already. I stopped using the post office at least 10 years ago.

Your package might arrive at some unknown point in the future if you're lucky.

You should only use couriers for packages or private postal companies like Postnet.

Yeah unfortunately the site I ordered from did not even advise which shipping service they were using else I would definitely have even paid extra to use a courier instead. Does anyone know who I can take action against say if my package never arrives?

Next time have it sent to a remailing service and get them to courier it.

Ebay sellers will generally refund an order if it doesn't arrive, at least the last time I had to do this. I doubt smaller private companies would do this though if they've confirmed it had already left the country of origin.

Also another tip, if the seller doesn't stipulate that's it is shipping with a courier it's most likely not.

The foreign tracking number is usually trackable on the SAPO system.

Well it was, in the past.

You could call Capemail. You could also visit Capemail in Epping. Visit customs there. You'll end up speaking to SAPO employees though.

He could file a claim with Ebay or with PayPal.

It depends on how you paid for your item. Usually the shipper has to prove receipt of your item. Otherwise they will have to process a refund. They may be able to claim from USPS if the item was insured.

Yikes. A seller shipped my parcel yesterday with USPS!

Got 2 refunds in the last month from ebay. Parcels are in SA but cannot trace them here. Luckily as soon as the estimate arrival date passes, ebay allows you to file a claim.
Gonna file a claim for a 3rd parcel today as it was due yesterday.

You must check but there may be a limit on how many claims you can file over a given period.

No wonder there are so many sellers stating "We do not ship to South Africa "

Not just SA, SA just ends up on that list of countries like North Korea, Sudan and Somalia.

Sellers hopefully have insurance and can claim. If not, it's their loss.
