Vodacom blocks facebooks & java applications

Hi guys,

Is there any solution to this yet? I have been experiencing similar problems with Facebook as well as parts of iGoogle.

Another friend of mine is having the exact same issue and she is reporting a problem with javascript in Hotmail as well.

I have tried multiple versions of the 3G modem as well as mulitiple sim cards. When I try via another service provider it works. This led me to believe it was either a DNS or firewall issue.

Thanx in advance

Have you sent me your details as per my sig?

Hey Guys,

I guess I have the same problem here. Use the Huawei E220 but can't get through Facebook anymore. The login doesn't work.. So I guess it's the same problem.. So I was wondering -like ZeusJ- of there was any news already.. Living in Pretoria.. It worked somewhere a week ago, but after that it's back to this again..

Is this a problem with Vodacom..?

Nope, it's a problem with Pretoria :p

Or rather it's a problem only seen in Pretoria.

But won't you test again? I know the guys worked on this today.

Same problem guys...

And I have not had any feedback from the call I logged at the callcentre either.

Aiaah :D Checked it, but no changes, unless that I don't see the inlog screen not proper anymore either ;-) Anyway.. checked the error console in FF and get all these errors in loading b.static.ak.fbcdn.net (..)

Like in this:
Waarschuwing: Fout tijdens het parsen van waarde voor eigenschap ‘filter’. Declaratie genegeerd
Bronbestand: http://b.static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.p...nl_NL/141/153889/css/d7km5ne2ce0ws480.pkg.css
Regel: 26

Sorry for the Dutch..

grrrrrrrrrr ... and here I am ... have been battling to get a friend of mine's computer to work with FB and javascripts the last couple of days ..... doubting my sanity .... also in the Moreleta park area.
Sometimes FB and MSN would work, without touching her computer, and the next second I would get a frantic phone call from her that nothing was working.

Pulled my hair out figuring why Javascript wasn't working properly, as mine was working properly, in the same complex, but I am on ADSL. though something in her registry was wrong, even when I installed firefox it still didn't work.

Are you saying you're still seeing the Facebook problem?

When last did you test?

I tested yesterday at the time of my post and I will test in a few seconds again.

I can log into facebook but I get Javascripting errors and that means the page does not load. Same problem I have been having for the whole time now.

Come guys...this is getting hectic now. When will this be sorted out?

Hi Vodacom3G

I just checked and its still not working.... I hope they get the problem soon...

Working on my old pc is driving me up the wall..... PLEASE MAKE IT WORK!!!! Im Begging you!!!

I must take my hat off for vodacom though. they have smsed me everyday since i loged the error saying that they are working on the problem!

You are very lucky jacquesbeets. I have not heard anything from Vodacom about the problem since the day after I logged the query. I have called them now again and I have been told they are still investigating.

So now I suppose I must wait. For how long...who knows.

Any updates Vodacom3g? I have finally been given a query reference number but I have been told that I must wait for ADS to phone me. I can't get ahold of them directly.

It won't be much longer, trust me. The guys have been monitoring my assigned IP and the pages that give me problems, they seem to know what's causing it.

Hopefully we can get it sorted soon. With Zeus' help we've been tracing the problem and it seems that the Cache Server serving the Pta area is being naughty.

But why only Pta is the perplexing question. The exact same system with the same firmware, etc. runs in all the other regions as well.

We've taken all the bits of biltong out and even washed the Klippies and Coke stains from the box, but it's still not lekker.

Will hopefully have more detailed feedback soon.

But thanks for your help and support so far. As a token of appreciation we'll probably break the tower in your area.....:o
Sounds like a very good idea, and then "plant" one of your trees in my backyard.

An uncapped bundle for one month will also go down well, but don't touch the tower, nor any config settings during that month ;)

Something else - as I told Ramon last night, although I use MTN voice, their 3G is useless where I stay. I'm tempted to give iBurst a try (as a backup option), I can see their tower from my house, and a test a couple of months back was very successful.

is there one place where it is useful?!

Sorry, yes.

Although I did pass Zeus' details to Ramon as well.

Guys it looks like it's functioning again...I will test it later from another 3G connection to confirm but it's looking good.

Thanx Ramon and Vodacom3G for your efforts and assistance so far!

Facebook is still not working at my side .. I'm from Steelpoort, Limpopo.
It's giving me Done, but with errors on page ...
And it seems that my other pages is doing the same now :(
