Nothing to do with the card old chap. The modem doesn't guarantee any speeds. Your location is a big factor.

No, the SIM won't affect the speed. You're most likely on the 1800 profile, so you won't see more than a maximum of about 1800Kb/s.

I'm using the Samsung Omnia and occasionally I will get the HSDPA icon when I'm in an HSPDA enabled area. Will I be paying extra when I download in these areas? What about if I'm in a data bundle?

Vodacom is raping you in pricing people.. of course it makes more sense that you are able to use your cap faster. In fact, who ever initially put that restriction on is a fool.

well, it's only the upload that's faster - people usually DOWNLOAD more than they upload, so enabling everyone to download at 3.6 would bring even more money in their pockets.

Thank you for the information. If I upgrade to the 1800/1400 profile, will I still be able to use both 1.8, 3.6 and 7.2 devices? I have a 1.8 device on my desktop and a 7.2 device on my laptop, I switch sim cards now and again.
