GPRS on my phone is dead as well. No mxit since this afternoon.
Called 155, the first thing they say is that they have throughput problems try again later.

Well i still experience the timeout issues here in JHB, last night was a pain and this afternoon on my internet APN it was horrific. But when i switched to unrestricted only every 8 or so pings did i get 1 or 2 timeouts.

Vodacom Slow Data Thru-put

Can somebody from Vodacom please explain to me why is the data throughput so erratical lately?

No it is not my data card or anythong else on my pc and if I call 155 most of the times the voice prompts already confirms my problems.

Regards

Theo

Vodacom - please take the remainder of my contract value - 7 months = R3143 - off my account now. Take your modem back, or if you don't want it I'll throw it in the bin. I struggle daily with your bum network. I don't care what your excuses are, I really don't. I gave up caring months ago. R3143 is a small price to pay to be rid of this crap forever. Thank goodness I have Telkom ADSL and Axxess prepaid.

You would need to direct this to Vodacom.

The network went down at 00:09 this morning in Hilton. I was still connected and could connect, but got timeouts when trying to open websites from either my modem or my phone.

I logged it with 155. And here I must say that the last couple of times I have had to log errors with 155, I have been treated courteously and they have been quite happy to log the fault without querying my settings.

Connection Interrupted

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

Oh well. Time for bed anyway.:mad::mad:

Regarding the error messages I posted about here, which I've been getting on and off since 2008/07/19.
Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "<some error>"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact your network support team.
I'm fairly sure these messages are coming from Vodacom's proxy server, although no-one has confirmed or denied this. I have suggested to them to make the source of the message clearer, but this seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

This error seems to be a general error message from the proxy; the proxy was busy, it was unable to resolve the hostname of the website, it was unable to reach the website, the page contains improperly formatted HTML, etc.

If you see this message, try refreshing the page. If a whole website becomes unavailable for an extended period then report that you are unable to access that particular website on 155. The report will get to the right people who can bypass the proxy for that site.

Tx, I'll pick this up. If you any more more thoughts on this, mail me on my VC e-mail, won't you. I tend to agree with your views but have asked for confirmation.
