Aargh!

Die Hoewes Centurion
I have two options - GPRS with good signal or HSDPA with poor signal
I have to set my connection option to either GPRS only or HSDPA only otherwise the connection is dropped when the modem switches signals.

Plenty of dropped signals as well.

Local sites getting about 3 kb/sec down. Mybb took about 5 minutes to navigate to this page.
gmail refuses to load and other sites are a bit of a gamble.

My 2 year contract is up - maybe time to cancel it and go for ADSL? This surely isn't worth the money.

DNS Problems

Hi All,

Its been 1 year and 8 months since I took out my contract and I'm still experiencing DNS problems.

Whenever I try to browse it doesnt find any sites at all. I have to run ipconfig /flushdns before anything works.

Is this a VODACOM problem or a problem with my PC ?

Please help

Thanks

Not aware of any other complaints.

Do an ipconfig /all and post the output here.

But lets look at the bright side, Vodacom's 3G is at least consistently unreliable just like 2008.

Hope this improves during the first 12 months of 2009.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Connection problems on 2009/01/12 22:00-01:00. N1 City area, PPDB.
When attempting to connect got 619 error, or if it did connect, couldn't do DNS lookups or even ping DNS server.
Tried 'internet' and 'unrestricted' APNs, GPRS-only and 3G-only.

I also had issues last night. It was down from 22:10 to 22:40, it came up for 5 min and then died again at which point I gave up and went to bed.

Bad Bad Bad or No reception

What is going on in the Hillfox, Panorama area (Roodepoort)? Since last night we have had 0% - 24% GPRS reception only! No 3G.

I waited for 10 minutes for this page to load.

Well the network is going down in a blaze of fire.

Brits area North-west. Network slows during the day and complete fails after 20:00. System picks up the so call 3g signal but you are unable to connect.

Software i'mm using tracks network latency in milliseconds. Good from 5am-10am at 400-600ms, 10am-4pm gettind bad 900-1800ms. 4pm-8pm lucky if you get 2200ms. After 8pm bye-bye. No network at least till 11 pm

On prepaid, I try to use 3G at night but it's DOG slow. Opera Mini and MXit take ages to connect (if ever). I tried again at 5AM just to make sure my phone wasn't the problem and sure enough, it connected fine.

Basically, the network dies at night.
