Because civilised people are still in bed!

Can you log the speed test over the course of the day, so we can build a graph of what you see?

I will try, but this is at home. At work I use the ADSL line.
Just now at home got 122 kbits/sec. When I look at the graph with Bandwidth Monitor it is a solid red block, i.e. no starts and stops, but it just can't seem to get any higher than 122 kbits/sec - not even a short burst higher than that.
[For some reason I can't get Irfanview to screengrab the image :( ]

122kbits/sec is the usual daytime speed I've been seeing over the last 3 weeks. It is still usable, last night was terrible though with pages stopping to load halfway through and then starting up again a few seconds later.

Between changing nappies and doing all the house work I will try and do some more testing

Just finished my PPDB and guess what! I can connect perfectly everytime. Now, if vodacom dont sort out their PPDB service then i dont think customers are gonna be very happy. I'm glad mine is over. Atleast i can connect properly now.

Still having major problems here, error 619's disconnects, losing 3G signal etc. Speeds are generally ok when I actually have a stable 3G signal. GPRS is just about unusable though, pages time out, IM connections drop etc.

Someone from Vodacom came out a few days ago to do tests, they still seem convinced its a local problem to do with signal from the tower, cell breathing etc. but it doesn't seem to be to me.

what other apn's can I use? cause everytime I try to log in I have to do it 5 times. currently using "internet"

// Getting variable speeds, at times i am flying at other times i struggle to open local sites and international crawls

Are you on pre-paid or contract?

Different apn's should not affect your login experience.

Currently using Prepaid bundles.
If contract gonna make any difference I won't mind to change back, cause my speeds is way less thn 3G. I've full signal bars

I would like to EXPERIENCE a logon once in a while! Ten attempts this morning and once finally connected it was s-l-o-w!

Thinking of getting a 56K dial-up modem as an upgrade to HSDPA!

Once in a while and most people would accept this type of thing, but this poor service has been going on for some weeks now and really is no longer acceptable at all.

2 whole days and no complaints???? :D

Bugger off! ;) You're just going to wake up the gremlins!!

I think the problems are slowing coming under control. The sudden drop in performance we've seen (primarily in Cpt) seems to have been resolved.

The difficulty to connect for pre-paid is still being sorted and is mostly due to load on the pre-paid systems. Pre-paid bundles + the new pricing have caused a much bigger jump in the number of users than we predicted.

The 'normal' growth in capacity (resulting in sub-optimal speeds, is managed as part of the ongoing performance management process, so please keep on logging any problem with the Call Desk.

@vodacom3g: please can u update this thread with information on when ppdb is sorted out. I wanna buy a ppdb but the connections problems are stopping me.

Well I'm still crawling at 77kbps down on EDGE connected to the Yzerfontein Reservior tower... its going on for a month now since I last got close to EDGE speed in the evening between 17:00 and midnight.... surprisingly up speed seems Ok at about 27kbps.... I wish this would get sorted..

(sotto voce) : sorry, V3g, couldn't resist and it was notable ;)

Most of all, thanks for the update. BTW, is there a web page where one can see known problems, progress, fixed etc?
