Vodacom Problems: Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency

Just wanted to find out. Are you on a 3G Preferred profile or 3G Only profile. Cause I get many disconnections if I'm in a low coverage area and the profile tries to switch back and forth between GPRS and 3G. So I usually keep it on the 3G Only profile and I get less frequent disconnections.

:L:

I'm on a 3G only profile - with 75% signal strength and four bars.

It's not my signal - it's the network.

Just echoing the fact that at 23:00 last night I encountered the same "Can connect to the network, but that's it" problem.

I don't have my modem here at work, so I can't check: Is this still a problem? I hear the 155 guy says it is. Do we have an eta on this one?

Thanks

Can't surf with full 3G coverage

I am connecting to the internet and my dash says I have full 3G coverage but I can't do anything online. I still have over 300MB on my bundle so it's not that. Any ideas pls.

Welcome to the latest world of Vodacom ... almost everyone and their dogs are having problems of late.

What is the status on this?
Vodacom 3G/HSDPA Prepaid Bundles

Cape Town, Parow East - CONNECTION PROBLEMS still persisting.

I haven't been able to browse any website since 22h00 last night.

COME NOW VODACOM, HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

Dear Vodacom,

With over 1k posts on this thread alone and new posts being added every day, Me thinks that there is something wrong with your network (be it, backhaul, SAIX etc.).

Your clients pay you for a service and not for excuses.

Same, last night things were so bad that I could not even load the vodacom speed test page. Things smoothed out after 11pm.

What really annoys me is that I am probably using 30% more with all of the half loaded pages and half downloaded files. I still pay for that usage :(

Had 347.something Megabytes left last night. Today i have 232.25 Megs left. I share your pain Abe :(

Cape Town - 3G/HSDPA on Prepaid Data Bundle
Seems like the connection is up and running again ...

Just managed to connect and surf a couple of websites - only 3G speeds unfortunately - but it's a start - maybe Parow East (Foschini Head Office building to be exact) doesnt have HSDPA coverage ....

Now I'm hoping Vodacom will let their customers know what the problem was and how they will prevent this from re-occuring.

WISHFUL THINKING ..... I KNOW ....

i am in jhb and have been experiences slow connections and intermittent service for this past week

Thanks for letting us know.

Can anyone closer to the CBD/southern suburbs confirm this for me, please?

I have a bunch of work to do on our company's website tonight, and need to know if I have to make alternate plans wrt connecting.

Thanks

I'm on prepaid, southern suburbs, GPRS (so can't really comment on speed) - I had problems connecting last night, although it did work in the end. Seems like it used to be a problem between 17:30 and 22:30, and they've cut it down to between 19:00 and 21:00 or thereabouts. Haven't really tried today, but then it normally works in the daytime for me anyway.

So it's a bit better than it's been, but really not reliable.

What HSDPA download speeds are you guys and gals getting in the Cape Town area?

I've never been able to crack 1 Mbps on http://speed.vodacom.co.za/speedtest/
Max was about 950kbps... but that's not consistent. I would say my average HSDPA speed is around 700kbps...

I'm using Samsung U700 via USB - and speed tests done in Parow East as well as Brackenfell (Vredekloof) ....

Just interested to see what the other Cape Townians' speeds are.
