Voicemail to SMS

My partner uses the service and it is not very accurate. He showed me a few of the voicemail2sms messages that had problems with names and also spelling mistakes and also different words than that wat was said in the original voicemail message.

sometimes the smses is funny to read and to listen to the original message

I have been using it about 2 months.
I think it's quite accurate. The sms arrives as though it was sent from that phone leaving the message , so its easy to see who its from , but its in " " and says "spoken through spinvox" at the end. I hardly ever have to listen to the message. Obviously some words don't come out right esp if spoken fast , but mostly u can make it out.
I would like to be able to phone and leave myself a message but sadly have to write down all my reminders. Something they should look at - even send an e-mail. (like jott in states or spinvox europe)

Anybody using this service? Is it accurate?

I've been using it (as a paying customer) for a few months and I've often been amazed at how accurate it is. It even seems to know some local slang.

It's obviously a function of how clearly the voicemail was spoken in the first place but I often see 100% accuracy. In all cases it's more than clear enough to understand the message though.

The really cool thing for me is that the sender number is the actual number of the person who left the voice message. So you can directly reply to the SMS.

I find this extremely useful when I'm in a meeting and I can't answer a call, which then goes to voice mail. I get it as a SMS and can respond directly to the caller on SMS.

@rpm, I'll forward you some samples.

I cant see how vodacom can justify 49 bucks pm on a gimick like that.
It should b a freeby for customers. I can't see it as a value added service like clip or itemised billing.

Another service available is voicemail to e-mail, where you get the voicemail delivered to your mailbox as a wav file.

I've often used this to keep records of voicemails.

*gasp* english only? what about the other 11 official languages? this is racist!!

Wheres the BEE compliance :P

LOL

If you want to leave yourself a message dial your own voicemail box.

If your number is 082-123-4567 then dial 082-131-123-4567.

You can also use this method to retrieve your Vodacom voice mail from a normal landline. Just press '1' as soon as you hear your own voice!

I am just wondering now, will Vodacom also offer the 'Visual Voicemail' feature when they someday decide to release the Iphone 3G?

R49 pm?! Wow.

I was thinking this sounded quite useful, because I hate trying to listen to voicemail and figure out what's being said over the background noise. But I'm not paying R49 pm for it... I'd be more than doubling my cellphone bill, as I barely use R49 in a month, anyway (and that's mostly on data).

What if you ported . 083/084 ?
It doesnt seem to work on 084

If I can't even hear most of my voicemails due to the pathetic quality of cellphone calls, how the hell is some american machine supposed to interpret them? R49 is just rediculous. Maybe R4.90. Try again Vodacom.

Lol, I want the "author" of BEE to stick it up somewhere (it would be inappropriate to mention it). The very notion of BEE is racially inclined.
English is the universal language, so I reckon it's all good.
