Voicemail to SMS

Who did they steal this idea from?!? ;)

You want to know? They reckoned that if Telkom cna have a sms to voice service, they should have a voice to sms service. I think somebody forgot to mention that Telkom's service doesn't work all that lekke if it's not proper English. :D

almost like fax to email. the idea is good but sounds like it needs more work

SpinVox (EU) Basically has agent sitting at PCs translating what the computer does not easily recognise. These agents (some in KZN) use hotkeys and some wierd foot pedal to skip around the voice mail. I don't know how the local service providers do it exactly but it is quite an income generator for call centres. Innovative? Pfff

ermm. why dont i believe that? Voice recognition has come a long way and is quite capable at doing this job. there is no way in hell this would be feasable if you're paying humans.

I've been using it for about 2 months now. Its works nicely but has all the traits of machine translation, things like "sometimes when im scared i scream" vs "sometimes when im scared ice cream" happen which is a classic sign of a machine since its not context-matching your words.

In fact, the other day someone left me a voicemail saying "hey ???? its ??? here, just called to tell you we can discuss the list tonight. good seeing you. bye"

and the SMS i got was "hay ??? it is ????? here, joost called to tell you we can discuss the list tonight. i love you. bye."

lol :)
