VOIP Handsets

Yes, multiple SIP accounts. You can also set it up on your smartphone.
Yes the phone can handle multiple accounts, but I believe he wants to use the same SIP account on more than one phone at the same time.

Probably not a good idea. Last to register will win. So it will only work on one device at a time.
Hence my comment about individual SIP accounts in a group. There should ideally be one external SIP account and then a locally run SIP PABX

Yes, you are right, the last to register will win, the alternative is to go PABX to set the rules.

that would depend on the provider, some allow concurrent logins, others dont.

So a little more complicated than I was hoping.

I basically wanted to log in on all cellphones and a "house" phone, giving whoever is nearest to a phone the opportunity to answer.

For that you either need to roll your own PBX or a hosted PBX. PBX registers with VoIP provider and all the phones register to the PBX with their own extensions which you put into a ring group.

Depending on your enthusiasm levels you can give FreePBX ISO a go: https://www.freepbx.org/downloads/

Also consider what's called a sat connector(I might be getting the name wrong) , basically a small Voip box that you can connector to a router and any normal analogue handset incl cordless handsets, sell for around R400.

VOIP or IP Adapter. I use the Linksys PAP2T, it’s worked perfectly for years connected to a pair of good quality DECT cordless phones.

Been superseded by the Cisco SPA112

I do that, incoming calls ring on my Android phone (using CsipSimple) and on the cordless phones simultaneously.

As above, it works for me, on Android phone and home handsets. All ring for incoming calls.

I'm looking at getting the new Yealink W60P cordless VOIP phone. Yealink is highly rated by a number of members on MBB. It comes with docking station and long talk & standby time. This seems to sell (with the VOIP adapter) for about R1850...and you can link up to 8 handsets. Anyone know where I can purchase this at a good price?

Who is your VOIP provider?

I'm trying Switchtel and Fresh at the moment and don't think you can be signed into one SIP account from multiple devices simultaneously.

I use Sipgate, I don’t know if you can sign up to them with an SA address though.

More info please.

Just googled it and I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

How does it allow you to simultaneously be logged in to the same SIP account from different devices without them competing?

No idea, you simply sign in on the devices you want to use and they work. It’s that simple. At one stage I was running 3 separate devices on the number, and all would ring simultaneously when an incoming call arrived, I could answer the call on any device and ring out on any device and all present the same CLI.

Sipgate is an international provider, US, UK and Germany iirc to sign up, but works from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

Currently 2 3 live devices on my line.
