Vox or Telkom to praise for the speed?

Vox seems really fast atm (10 Mbps line- Telkom managed, 200GB package): :)

I started noticing what looks like shaping on my line a few days ago. This oscillating pattern appears with all types of traffic - browsing, steam downloads, torrenting, etc. I have restarted everything, and have not made any recent configuration changes. Nothing else besides my PC is currently using the internet, so it's not local QoS. What's going on here, Vox?

Edit: After extensive troubleshooting, I have discovered that the network issues are caused by the latest Radeon software. Weird. Trying to find out why.

whats confusing is the continued *** performance on social media. especially videos. huge downloads is ok but we limit that little video on instagram. need to keep network performance up.

Not in CT, but lately Vox is terrible... pings all over the place, they constantly assert its my Telkom line, you know, the usual blame shift.

Anybody else experienced issues in CT last night? Had constant line drops :(

I was streaming all evening in HD with no noticeable line drops, I was streaming from 8PM through to 1AM.

I was, however, experiencing problems with my Telkom account before switching over to VOX, so it may have been Telkom line issues in the Western Cape.

Yes... here too. Not so much line drops, but zero throughput for periods... everything remained connected but just no data flowed.

Ah yes, had the exact same experience. Router indicating that the line is up, but no throughput. Hopefully no issues today, want to play BF1 tonight :)

Thanks. I am looking for a new primary isp which offers a decent unshaped product. How is your experience on vox? Would you recommend them?

I definitely recommend them, but as with all South African ISP's have a backup account.

During the day everything works at line speed, in the evenings it tends to slow considerably.
That said, I can usually still stream on VOX when Afrihost has fallen over.
Likewise I tend to see far more peers/hosts with VOX than I do with Afrihost, very strange considering they are both called unshaped. Even stranger is that my Shaped Telkom account finds more peers than the two combined.

VOX are not good at communication and rarely drop in on these forums, on the other hand, relative to Afrihost they rarely have problems.

VOX reward loyalty with no fanfare and marketing hype. My allocation had gone up by 400% since I joined and I am still only paying the initial 100GB promo price. With 2.4 TB (6 times your monthly data allocation) of rollover data as a buffer, you will effectively have an unshaped uncapped product. Just don't try and download the whole internet :)

And by leaving your line where it is you can still drop by and bait the AfriGeeks occasionally :)

In my experience, they're very good at communicating & (attempting to, at least) troubleshoot problems, when you contact them directly. I usually e-mail them if dissatisfied with something, which results in a call back within a few hours.

Also emailed them in the past and they also called me back to resolve the problem.
