Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Two thumbs up for the bolt on from me. Been gaming on it in the evening while the wife surfs the interwebs all the while running a download in the background. I do switch over to Telkom for the extra nightsurfer hour before I go to bed though. Weekends I only run on Vox.

Let's hope it continues.

What sort of usage volumes are you guys getting on the bolt-on? Or is there no way to monitor?

The Fat Pipe + Bolt On is only great for 10Meg or less.
On VDSL I prefer having the ability to switch accounts when I need speed or not.
I had a fat pipe + Bolt on but gave it up so I wouldn't be screwed on weekends when I wanted the additional speed.

That! is the key point - great for ADSL up to 10 meg (or 20, I'm not sure) - perfect for me since my exchange barely makes it to 10 meg :D

Unless you bond 2xBolt-Ons for 20Mbs

:P

I thought about doing that, but the hassle to register for a new bolt on, etc is just not worth it cos I don't download that much these days.
Also I would have to setup pfsense to do the bonding and i dont have a small pc to do it.(Only have a massive server that I dont want to move to my modem as it looks messy)
I still have 2x sealed pci network cards that I bought when I wanted to go with this setup.

I miss the fat pipe + bolt on working at full speed vdsl days!
If I look at the number difference on my fatpipe and g4g username.... theres a 30k difference. So I think they had a massive uptake in their adsl products in the last 6months of last year and thats why they put all the restrictions in place.

Same here. Well, a solid 10 24/7. Next move for me on this line will hopefully be to ftth.

Vodacom wanted to put fibre in my complex but we only had a 3% interest and we needed 40%.
But apparently at my AGM on Tuesday, they said that Telkom might upgrade our copper to fibre because of our existing user base.
Im not keen on Telkom fibre in comparison to other fibre implementations/products out there, but I will take what I can get at this point.

Check the Homelab thread. Have my firewall, modems, download server, media sever and NAS in one small mini ITX build neatly tucked into a cupboard with 2x 140mm 200RPM fans.

Proxmox is literally the best thing.
